Saviour Complex: a tendency to code up the quickest fix for a small problem people are facing, possibly vibe coded, so they can be the hero and save everyone.

Usually this fix causes more harm than intended because the Saviour didn’t take the time to understand or research the problem first.

Just got a new phone and I’m sorting here with both devices slowly logging into everything again.

Is this modern purgatory??

a woman is sitting at a table in a living room talking to a man . Alt: Clip from Arrested Development with Lucille Bluth saying “please, it’s one banana, Michael. What could it cost? 10 dollars?”

London is a funny place.
Eating lunch in an Itsu (sushi style chain) and a lady shouts to her husband “Get spoons - soup spoons!”

The idea that there’s multiple styles of spoons available in a chain just gives “how much is a banana anyway?” feels 😂

A screenshot of a snippet from vocabulary.com:
What is the meaning of chores?
A chore is a duty or task you're obligated to perform, often one that is unpleasant but necessary. Washing the dishes is a chore, and so is completing a homework assignment you aren't excited about. Sometimes a thing that you wanted to do can become a chore if it ceases to be fun or interesting.

Does anyone else find it incredibly grating that we seem to have adopted the word "chore" to describe necessary, but simple tasks?

I find it incredibly passive-aggressive, as though a teenager is throwing a tantrum at being asked to wash the dishes.

Let's have more respect for our craft.

Every deployment pipeline is underpinned by an esoteric and arcane bash script.

If you think your pipeline isn’t, then you’ve not looked deep enough.
