CBC has a number of these conservative talking heads who seem to talk from the songbook. You would think that they would provide insight into the issues facing Canadians. Instead, viewers get conservative talking points.
Grievance politics is a cottage industry in Alberta. The people in Alberta who continually complain about how the rest of Canada doesn't respect or understand them don't seem to have any respect for Canadians.

This always has been the go to response from Smith or Kenney and all conservatives whether provincial or federal. The call for separation has been around since the days of Peter Lougheed. The news media has not helped as they do not push back on outrageous comments from conservatives.

This false outrage is humorous. When a liberal crossed over to their side, they touted as standing up for Canada and what a brave action. Political theater can be very tiresome.
