Operation Berlin is out today! It's the first book in my Foreign Correspondent series, featuring my two detectives, Archie and Esme, who solve crimes around the capitals of Europe in the 1930s. This first one is set in Berlin in 1930.

Happy publication day to @michaelridpath.bsky.social's exciting new Foreign Correspondent series, #OperationBerlin is out today! Follow distinctive & likeable duo Archie & Esme around Europe, starting here with 1930s Berlin, unravelling a perilous mystery. Ridpath is excellent as always! #BookSky
Ah! I see the author is from Oregon. There are slightly more Ridpaths in America than the UK and there is a Ridpath Hotel in Spokane Washington State, so perhaps that's where she got the name. Let me know if the book is any good.
What! Who is this Ridpath girl? I hope she's no relation to me.
Did you know you can follow authors on Amazon? It turns out that the mysterious Amazon algorithm gets really excited by the number of an author's followers. Here's the link to follow me. Just click on the "Follow" button on the top left. Thank you! bit.ly/4bZ9M0y
I talk to Barry Forshaw of CrimeTime about solving crimes in Europe in the 1930s: www.crimetime.co.uk/operation-be...

Just finishing audiobook of Man on Ice by Humphrey Hawksley. Made January at the gym fly by! It's a thriller about a Russian/US clash in the Bering Straits. Clever political setup and great action scenes. Rake Ozenna, an Eskimo US soldier is an intriguing character. @humphreyhawksley.bsky.social
Here is the cover for Operation Berlin out in April 2026!
It's the first of my Foreign Correspondent series, so it's important because it will set the style and tone of my covers for the next several years.
I really like it!
Operation Berlin, the first in my new series of mystery novels set in Europe in the 1930s will be published in April 2026. A British first world war veteran and a young American woman dreaming of becoming a foreign correspondent solve crimes around the capitals of Europe. First up – Berlin.
I love this Icelandic word - we could do with something similar in UK English!
Rough, porous rock, looking rather like pumice, in shades of lilac, turquoise, brick, yellow, pinky-brown and green

What's your address?
Sure. I have a DVD here. Shall I post it to you?
Absolutely, David. Just been for a beautiful walk in Millers Dale in the Peak District. The world seems a better place.

I have just redesigned my website, www.michaelridpath.com
Websites are supposed to be slick and sleek these days, without too much text. But it seemed a shame to ditch so much content, so I've created a new page, Backstories, which has articles about my novels that I hope keen readers will enjoy.
The Icelandic public broadcasting agency just issued a correction of a previous news item: The first lamb of the year was born in Skagafjörður on January 23rd, and NOT yesterday in Rangárvellir as previosly stated.
The accompanying photo is of the real first lamb born and its mother.

Somebody reads them! Hurrah!
Listening to William Hurt reading The Sun Also Rises in the gym. Sublime! The miles fly by (all 2 1/2 of them)!
