While the US pours trillions into war, communities on the Gulf Coast — and across the country — are left without the resources, infrastructure, or support to survive the next storm.

Grateful to folks at @inkstickmedia.com
for allowing me to reflect on surviving Katrina and how 20 years later, we have learned nothing and are still left defenseless.

there is simply no possible case for continued support for Israel and there has not been for quite some time
a genocidal regime behaving with utter impunity, unconstrained by even the pretense of international law
No other place on earth could this happen w/out complete uproar from journalists across the globe. Yet here, crickets. MSM’s silence is complicity
My job involves working w/ journalists; many of those have been / Al Jazeera. All my love to the Al Jazeera family. What a tragic & heartbreaking loss 💔
This. The EO—though it doesn't carry the force of the law—calls for even more efforts to criminalize and institutionalize unhoused people, folks with unmet mental health needs, drug users and those deemed to be "vagrants." It aims to render people as disposable, and control, lock up + disappear them
Trump is further militarizing foreign policy. That’s what boosting the DoD budget and slashing State does. Intellectuals sprinkled across the political spectrum have lapped up the yokel credence that he is “anti-interventionist” but Trump is another (draft-dodging) militarist
Not a cell phone in sight, just people living in the moment!
We're at the Hands Off rally in Washington D.C. with a sculpture of the Palestinian children who have been murdered by Israel.
The Hands Off rally might not have mentioned Palestine - but we're making sure everyone attending see the genocide their tax dollars are funding.
It’s true, Palestine was not included in the hands off demands but that didn’t stop us from bringing the message.
I deserve a gold medal for the mental gymnastics I do when I eat turkey bacon.
Like who looked at a pig and said I bet a bird would make a great substitute?!
Now which outfit to wear for my video saying "I am not a sex offender"....ah, perfect
While political prisoner and Palestine activist Mahmoud Khalil remains in ICE detention in Louisiana, his lawyers are fighting for his freedom in New Jersey. On Friday, March 28 they were in Newark to argue for Khalil’s...
President Donald Trump says taxing imports will strengthen domestic manufacturing. Hours before announcing new tariffs, his administration cut support for centers that help US firms do just that.
“One young man sobbed when a guard pushed him to the floor. He said, ‘I’m not a gang member. I’m gay. I’m a barber.’ I believed him. *** He “began to whimper,” as his head was roughly shaved, “folding his hands in prayer as his hair fell.” He “asked for his mother & cried as he was slapped again.”
*capitulation
sorry, wine
Having principles transcends partisanship. The sooner people like the person in this post realize this - the more likely we can build a better world.
This type of person is the perfect mark of Trump administration. They are feeding right into the administration’s need for capitulating
the wave of emotions I’ve been going through today - the happy tears, sobbing cries, yelling in anger, yelling in frustration, grinning ear to ear…
well, that’s the last time I’ll spend a whole ass day watching *checks note* Temptation Island
The line that Netanyahu re-started the war on Gaza to avoid prison is not wrong but perhaps too literal: Israel, much like the US, relies on war and colonial violence as a means to resolve otherwise unresolvable internal class, economic, ecological and social contradictions
As the ceasefire (however nominal it was) ends and the Gaza genocide enters a new phase, I share these words from my friend Lujayn, published in @thenation.com last month. Once again, Lujayn is not safe and is again at risk of being martyred in Gaza www.thenation.com/article/worl...
The Federal Government's Hostile Campaign Against Palestinian Rights Advocacy: A Concerted Effort to Silence Protected Political Speech 29. In the fall of 2023, students from diverse racial, ethnic, religious, and socioeconomic backgrounds including Mr. Khalil-began to mobilize on their campuses, many criticizing what they characterized as their universities' and the United States government's unwavering support for Israel's policies. These protests included Jewish students who sought to convey the message that such policies were "not in our name." In response, opponents of these students' messages including President Donald J. Trump frequently characterized peaceful protest and any speech in favor of Palestinian rights as inherently supportive of Hamas and antisemitic. For example, in several instances, he President Trump described a Jewish lawmaker who had criticized Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu as "a proud member of Hamas" and "a Palestinian," using "Palestinian" as a slur.
Khalil's lawyers allude to Trump calling Chuck Schumer "a proud member of Hamas" and "a Palestinian" to illustrate the unseriousness of the characterization of Khalil as pro-Hamas
everyone should listen to this in its entirety but journalists should listen to it multiple times. this is how you ask questions. you just keep asking simple, easily answerable stuff and the evasiveness becomes that much more glaring
It's funny thinking back to the argument that Dems couldn't get rid of the filibuster when they were in power because they'd miss it once the GOP was in power.

Where’s the lie
Oh that's interesting, the President just said that DOGE was headed by Elon Musk, even though the administration told a federal court that he was merely an adviser to the president, and some rando who was on vacation in Mexico was actually the leader.
