midwest/cornbelt corn needs to be planted in the next 3-4 weeks depending on weather. spectacularly bad timing for major commodity farms. at this point- relocalizing food production/victory gardens w/ intensive planting & companion plants is the only way how folks will afford vegetables this year.

beans, peas and lentils can fix nitrogen but they don't do super well in industrial farming with dead soil & no fertilizer. corn, on the other hand, is a very heavy feeder- depending on soil - and needs lots of nitrogen and phosphorous. can't change the composition of soil/plant needs overnight.

has any one tracked how his behavior varies in the days following the disappearances/new bruising? more narcoleptic, belligerent...?
