Congratulations to Dr. Daniel Corwin who has received the NIH Early Stage Investigator Award!

We also have the opportunity to advocate for various strategies that may optimize coping, such as a parent providing a comfort hold or other possible pain management options for an IV, suture repair, foreign body removal, or any other procedure that may come up in the ED.

In the first week of illness:

• Antigen tests (NS1, RDTs)
After that → serology (IgM/IgG)
⚠️ Access varies globally—know your local testing options
🦟 Dengue: Think of it early
Common in tropical/subtropical regions + travel history matters 🌍
Symptoms start 4–10 days after exposure:
🌡️ High fever
🤕 Severe headache/eye pain
💪 Myalgias
🤢 N/V, rash
Most mild—but don’t miss severe cases
