Sri Lanka and Indonesia deploy militaries as Asia floods death toll passes 1,100 Millions of people affected by torrential rainfall in Sri Lanka and large parts of Indonesia’s Sumatra, southern Thailand and northern Malaysia

A death toll over 1,100 with millions of people affected. Horrific.

Does anyone have local insights on how to best help from abroad?

This!👇🏽 Learnt it the hard way a couple of months ago when the floods in Valencia. I would add to the list: hand sanitiser, tissues, baby wipes, some chocolate (you're going to need it) and at least spare socks (if enough space, other underwear as well). Copies of documentation can go in a pendrive.
