Yes, I should have said not all publications are novels, not just books.

I took the survey. It asked if I was a published author, which I am, but then asked how many novels I have published and didn't give zero as an option. Not all books are novels. Just another note for the survey designer.

So my girlfriend is an amazing stop motion animator, and she recently did a medieval cat themed bumper for Adult Swim!

Sharing it here because she only has Instagram and I think everyone needs to see her animations. She's so freaking talented, y'alls. PLEASE go follow her!

He just wanted to give rides to the local boys and maybe get a few gentle pets and fish snacks!

It has an unhappy ending: the locals got so sick of tourists/pilgrims coming to see the dolphin and eating all their food and leaving a mess, so they killed the dolphin.

Makes sense. My favorite of Pliny the Younger's letters tells a story about a friendly dolphin in North Africa that priests decided was propitious and so they poured perfumes on it when it came near the shore. It got very sick and stayed away for several days before it came back to play again.

Love her hair. Even when the hairstyles of elite Roman women look a bit (deceptively) simple or "modest" from the front, they would have required an expert (probably enslaved) hairstylist, or a few of them, and possibly some extensions, to achieve.

I caught this last spring, despite getting TDAP vax in 2016. It was awful--I still have some lingering effects almost a year later. I had the signature cough, but my husband didn't, so be careful if you catch anything cold- or flu-like. Protect those around you, especially babies and small children.

If the Bible was on view since 2016 (which is hard to tell from the article) that already would have been much longer than objects made of paper are usually displayed, for their own preservation.

My new notebook, which I bought at the Frist Museum Art Museum shop, has pandas holding trowels on the cover. Why trowels? I have no idea, but I'm not complaining.

Getty Adds Deaccessioned Objects to Online Collection Pages | Getty News Project will increase clarity and transparency in a sensitive area of work

Kudos to @jebarr.bsky.social and the Getty team for getting this important information online! A major undertaking, I'm sure, but definitely a valuable resource for researchers working on a variety of topics. www.getty.edu/news/getty-a...

It's time to start reminding people: LILIES ARE DEADLY FOR CATS. The leaves, the petals, the stem, even drinking a bit of vase water or licking a few grains of pollen from their fur can cause fatal kidney failure. ⚠️ www.fda.gov/animal-veter...

I understand what you mean, but I don't think a lack of private funding would convince them that they made the wrong choice. They would also see that as a good thing.

Taking Care of History: Toward a Politics of Provenance Linked Open Data in Museums | The Art Institute of Chicago An account of the limitations of museums’ current approaches to presenting provenance data digitally that advocates for adopting a linked open data (LOD) approach.

In "Taking Care of History: Toward a Politics of Provenance Linked Open Data in Museums" (2022), we have laid out a detailed vision for how museums should begin addressing the transformation of their provenance records into PLOD - Provenance Linked Open Data.

Happy #dayofprovenance! I’ve tried capturing folks who research the histories of books, art, ancient material, and more here for those who want to learn more about provenance:

We need to record the, "provenance of the provenance." Yes, don't forget to record where you found information! (Wish I could go back to 2017 and tell myself that, repeatedly.)
