Force the Oppressor to make a Lose/Lose Choice Social Change Toolkit: Dilemma Actions

Today in social justice toolkit:

A dilemma action is a strategic action that forces your opponent into a lose-lose situation.

You've given them only bad options.

I give some examples

& then we talk about how to design them.

This one's pretty important.

Read and share, please?

Came across the phrase "cognitive DDOS" to describe our present culture.

Understood instantly what it meant.

Learn from my experience, friends. Replace that avocado oil if you've had it over 6 month.

(Note to self: retry air fryer smashed potatoes with different avocado oil.)

13 x 9 cake pan of applesauce cake cooking on a rack.

Now I have done it. It's almost the only Christmas thing I've done but I did it and the house smells amazing.

Wishing you and yours good times with the amount of interaction and company you prefer. And something you like as much as I like applesauce cake. 🎄🍰

Thank you! My husband has suffered from unpredictable sleep for 20 years or more and nothing much has helped, although he has also been harangued about sleep hygiene. He jokes his home planet has a 36-hour day but maybe this would help. It's the unpredictability that he hates at this point.

to Jews, on the Gaza famine an open letter: we have been commanded

I just sent this out.

The Jewish people have moral frameworks for this moment.

It is a choice not to heed them.

Please let us meet this moment, let us see the shattered Temple around us, right now, and our responsibility to it.

Practice safe hospital visits. Hopefully hubby comes home today. Management of chronic back pain is the pits.

I seriously wondered if that was a Sims 4 build for a second. Looks doable, and that's not necessarily a good thing.

ICEblock, which allows users to alert others to the geographical location of ICE officers, is the top social networking app in the App Store right now after Karoline Leavitt condemned it from the podium yesterday.

In a country characterized by the rule of law, some regulation of immigration is a legitimate function of government. In a lawless, expressly bigoted, and expressly corrupt regime, it is not. Download IceBlock and defy this administration.

A post that says, "Breaking: ICE agents are complaining that every time they go out wearing masks in unmarked cars with no uniforms or identification as law enforcement to abduct people, protesters keep dumping pounds of glitter on them so that everyone can tell they're ICE for days afterwards."

Are there any crafters in the audience...? Anyone...? Asking for a friend. 🦝

Hobbes was a very cool cat.

My husband is hard-of-hearing and our cat learned to look right at him and meow loudly. But he still had better luck patting him with a paw to get his attention first.

He still had me to talk to, but @joehz.bsky.social was his person.

There. I have Prepared The Food Of My People, aka potato salad. The Schrodinger eggs have been boiled and used and are therefore fine. That's just science, right?

Breakfast will be either delicious or memorable. I'm hoping for the former.

pink azalea flowers with green leaves

My azalea is blooming and I have friends who are allergic. So, for anyone who needs one, a hypo-allergenic spring flower.

Y'all, I found it: The single greatest post EVER

1 year ago 975 372 14 15

I found a note I apparently left myself: "business idea: Elder Daycare with board games, bowling, music, cross-stitch and knitting, pottery."

Now, was that for #Sims4 or real life?

Today's Egon Safety Tip:

Always make sure there's water in the coffee machine before turning it on.

Fortunately, when I discovered today's tip, I immediately turned it off. Crisis Averted!

Home Sweet electric blanket...

This time of year I spend most days under one when I'm home and dive under it when I come back. Brrrr!

Behold the fruits of my labor today, despite items slipping out of my hands and the sabotage of the applesauce by Defective Cap.

60 minutes at 350 was nearly too much. The planned 90 minutes surely would be. My oven is apparently more robust than my grandmother's.

Merry Christmas!

Today I am thankful that I checked the jar of applesauce before the store closed. Moldy applesauce is not part of my recipe.

Merry Christmas to the Instacart shopper who's getting a good tip!

Trans bathroom bans are bad for all of us, for MANY reasons. Aside from their obvious discrimination against trans people—what they say, at heart, is “You body, especially what’s in your pants, decides what rights you get.” I hope cis folks, especially my fellow cis women, see the dangers here.
