When I think about Open Worlds, I think about #EldenRing.
Open Worlds have their flaws, but it seems to me that FromSoft did about as good a job as you can do. They adapted their game model (Souls) to this delivery mechanism and it works wonderfully.
The Shaded Castle is one of my favorite locations in #EldenRing.
I think part of that is because of the wide variety of enemies, but the bigger reason is because of the lack of Sites of Grace. You really have to use all your tools to navigate it without returning to Grace.

Making another run through Elden Ring (fresh start, no NG+) and finally got back to Rellana. Took a while to re-learn her moveset.
Being aggressive and staying close to parry saved me from having to deal with a couple of her more nasty attacks.
