The singular goal of all future US politics is to ensure Trumpism is defeated and cannot again take root here, and everything that serves that end is to be considered and prioritized. It's a holistic organizing principle, from a Green New Deal to Nuremberg 2 to expanding the court to Reconstruction.

I’m so glad the acute crisis of the day has passed, but this situation remains intolerable. He still must be removed.

B-52 directly above the photographer with 12 visible cruise missiles on the pylons.

This is going around from a planespotter in UK ~40 minutes ago. Just to pre-bunk some things:

- The cruise missiles on the pylons are JASSMs (conventional-only), not AGM-86 (nuclear-only).

- AGM-86 is a good deal longer (thus not two rows in line), and different livery

Hey, just a thought, how about you and your colleagues in the house try to stave off the worst of those consequences today before they happen

I don’t have anything profound to add the discourse, but I am begging this country to take the loss today to prevent greater strategic defeat and, most importantly, preserve life tomorrow. There is simply no justification for this president to remain in office and for this war to continue.

We cannot allow him to wipe out a civilization. And I also worry that if he opts for devastating air strikes that don't involve nuclear weapons, it will somehow be reported as "cooler heads prevailing". No, that's unacceptable. It's all unacceptable and he has to be removed from having these powers.

“A whole civilization will die tonight” is the most vile thing a US president has ever said, certainly during the post-1945 era when they’ve had the power to kill civilizations with the dropping of a bomb. I’m staring into the darkness. May this not be one of the most fateful days in human history.

If you’ve never called your congressional reps before, do it right now.

Looking forward to it. In the very early days of the pandemic I wrote a post-it on my bathroom mirror that said “nothing is inevitable,” and it has remained for me one of the most useful lenses for viewing every thing that has followed. The contingent history can inform future choices, if we let it.

So - I ask that more people get smart on these weapons and understand how even a single-kiloton nuclear strike would usher in a tremendous strategic defeat for a generation of Americans; or at least, greatly raise the likelihood of mass atrocity in years ahead. Knowledge as a form of accountability.

This war may end up the most devastating thing that happens to the US and the world in the 21st century (or, maybe TACO Tuesday, though I doubt it). It's definitely a moment for people in institutions to do something. For us, is it time to panic? I'd love to hear theories of why not. 14/14

this is where I’m at in my analysis & study.

This is not normal (or constitutional).

We are in mortal danger

Trump has already caused incredible suffering & death & destruction.

Every day risks he will do much worse.

Trump must resign or be impeached & removed. He cannot be left in power.

The biggest story in the world right now is that the president of the United States is a demented old man who takes pleasure in torturing and killing people and is committing crimes with impunity. And yet most legacy media outlets are too cowardly to tell it like it is.

An overhead picture of a Seder plate and related items. Surrounding the Seder plate from right to left are a small glass of water, an empty glass, daffodils, salt water, two lit candles, wine, matzah, a Haggadah, and empty white plate. The Seder plate itself has a roasted beet at the center, surrounded by horseradish, parsley, charoset, and egg, an orange, tomatoes, green olives, and a small silver spoon.

Chag sameach, the only way to leave the narrow place is together, all of us. May we all pass through to safety and wholeness.

Also, and not to nitpick here, but I love the notion that regulation definitely always prevents illegal acts. Yes, insider trading does in fact occur within “regulated” markets!

Blessed to have seen rule #1 plastered against the side of a building today!

Saw the rule #1 ad today while biking downtown, “We ban insider trading.” Ok.

Screenshot from the very good torched showing the promotional material about the superbloom, clearly in a desert because, as Alissa has written, “The photo LA28 has chosen to illustrate "LA in full bloom" is indeed a well-known superbloom-viewing spot. It's so famous I knew exactly where it was: Henderson Canyon, located in Anza-Borrego Desert State Park, in San Diego County.“
