I don’t have anything profound to add the discourse, but I am begging this country to take the loss today to prevent greater strategic defeat and, most importantly, preserve life tomorrow. There is simply no justification for this president to remain in office and for this war to continue.
We cannot allow him to wipe out a civilization. And I also worry that if he opts for devastating air strikes that don't involve nuclear weapons, it will somehow be reported as "cooler heads prevailing". No, that's unacceptable. It's all unacceptable and he has to be removed from having these powers.
“A whole civilization will die tonight” is the most vile thing a US president has ever said, certainly during the post-1945 era when they’ve had the power to kill civilizations with the dropping of a bomb. I’m staring into the darkness. May this not be one of the most fateful days in human history.

Looking forward to it. In the very early days of the pandemic I wrote a post-it on my bathroom mirror that said “nothing is inevitable,” and it has remained for me one of the most useful lenses for viewing every thing that has followed. The contingent history can inform future choices, if we let it.
So - I ask that more people get smart on these weapons and understand how even a single-kiloton nuclear strike would usher in a tremendous strategic defeat for a generation of Americans; or at least, greatly raise the likelihood of mass atrocity in years ahead. Knowledge as a form of accountability.
This war may end up the most devastating thing that happens to the US and the world in the 21st century (or, maybe TACO Tuesday, though I doubt it). It's definitely a moment for people in institutions to do something. For us, is it time to panic? I'd love to hear theories of why not. 14/14

The biggest story in the world right now is that the president of the United States is a demented old man who takes pleasure in torturing and killing people and is committing crimes with impunity. And yet most legacy media outlets are too cowardly to tell it like it is.
