Went a little more modern on the video for our new single "Beautiful Season", but at the heart of it I'm still a "clips with vibes" kind of dude. These just all captured that slow motion isolation feel of the song. www.youtube.com/watch?v=r1YU...

𝐁𝐢𝐥𝐥𝐲 𝐂𝐨𝐫𝐠𝐚𝐧: And then Kim Gordon goes "Have you heard the new Updog record?" and I go "What's Updog?"
𝐂𝐨𝐮𝐫𝐭𝐧𝐞𝐲 𝐋𝐨𝐯𝐞: Unbelievable.
𝐁𝐢𝐥𝐥𝐲 𝐂𝐨𝐫𝐠𝐚𝐧: I thought Updog was one of those hipster Matador bands.
𝐂𝐨𝐮𝐫𝐭𝐧𝐞𝐲 𝐋𝐨𝐯𝐞: Wait weren't they on K Records?
𝐁𝐢𝐥𝐥𝐲: Thurston also called me Moby by mistake.
Sir, a second bird is at the feeder
Closer than you think… but thankfully dodged a bullet in my former county of residence… (emphasis on FORMER) www.yahoo.com/news/article...
*much like the 80s
It’s kind of like Renaissance Fairs - all turkey legs and knights with foam swords and bad ye olde accents. Idealized history. Real medieval times were pestilence and murder and shit everywhere.
ugh I look horrible plz delete
I posted about how I bought too many software synthesizers and overstimulated myself for the greater good.

It’s been a while since we had an original music release. Excited to share this one. Coming soon…
In other news Laura is randomly sitting next to Lacuna Coil at a hotel bar in Omaha. Like you do. She says they are very nice. 🤯

2.5 hours before Weekly Beats are due… Have I started? Kinda. Am I still gonna do it? Hell yes <cracks knuckles>
“When Bill Withers showed up,” Halverson says, “he comes walking in with his guitar and a straight-back chair, like a dining room chair, and asks, ‘Where do I set up?’ I showed him right in the middle of the room, and then he left and he came back in with this platform, a kind of wooden box that didn’t have a bottom. It was about four inches tall, and was maybe 3 foot by 4 foot; it was a fairly large platform, and he set it down in the middle of the room. Then he put his chair on it and got his guitar out, and he’s sitting on top of this box. So I miked him and I miked his guitar, and then I was doing other things—getting sounds together. “But then he calls me over and he points down to the box and says, ‘You gotta mike the box.’ Well, the way I was trained, you serve the artist, whatever the artist needs. So I got a couple other mics and I miked the box, the place down near the floor, next to this platform. “And now, when you listen to ‘Ain’t No Sunshine,’ you know that all that tapping that goes on [while Withers sings] ‘I know I know I know’ all through it, actually, that’s him tapping his feet on the box, which is actually more intricate than the guitar on that track. He had evidently rehearsed that in his living room, maybe for years.”
"You gotta mike the box." the engineer Bill Halverson on the making of "Ain't No Sunshine," 1971 (from a Mix interview in 2012)

The infamous Recombobulation Area in MKE
Adventures in air travel! MKE -> SAN got here an hour early and… 5 mins thru security. Laura will never let me live this one down 😬. Fully recombobulated at least.
An email with the title "could ai end the need for clinical trials?"
short answer: no
long answer: nooooooooo
Every legacy codebase is a fossil record of a previous engineer's specific mental breakdown and I just think that's beautiful
Paul is quality folks, love his Jamuary work
anyway to begin with here's the latest from an artist I've known for a while, loved their music a lot for a while and who only seems to go from strength to strength with each new release
kind of contemplative but playful downtempo
