Apparently their making a sequel to Great Expectations. It's called Mediocre at Best.

Then I brought a bottle of Champagne to a guest who was celebrating his anniversary to his now dead 2 years husband. He showed me pictures of the two of them from 1994.
There is so much humanity in working in restaurants that it's overwhelming at times. Tonight, I assisted a party in revealing their pregnancy to their family. The Father was elated and surprised to be a grandfather. His joy was palpable.
Like...can we have anything that resembles the old internet? Why does everything need to be for profit? I fucking hate it here.
I hate to say this because I know how it sounds, but be really careful of the media that you consume today. Also, if you're able, be introspective. Be skeptical. Ask questions. Try not to react. READ BOOKS.
The Trump administration is barely making an effort to convince the public to get behind a war with Iran. But without a powerful anti-war movement, ‘manufacturing consent’ is not even necessary.

And sometimes you meet people who are going through the REAL shit and dining at your restaurant is their solace. The connections can be pretty powerful. I wouldn't trade anything for it.
No doubt. Restaurants are faulty. All of them are, even the best ones. But...it's not working in an office. Basically everyone around you is some form of neuro-spicy and there's some semblance of community and camaraderie.
Honestly...if I wasn't working in a restaurant, I don't know what I would
do.
Like...America is just really fucking depressing.
a fluffy cat sits in a tall narrow box
Mr. Cat loves his box.
The problem with investigating and policing the system is that it gets to a point where the investigators investigate themselves. Like...the E Files are part of the system. People who benefit from the system will continue to make excuses to save it. Functionalism.
Someday someone’s gonna try to remake Big Trouble in Little China and it’s gonna be the worst thing you’ve ever seen.
I just don't think people are using AI "correctly" before they are staunchly opposed to it. Personally, I think it is pretty much trash at creating artistic content. But...if you prompt it to coach you through an artistic process, it works really well at guiding and brainstorming.
The Venn Diagram of people who participate in Dry January and the people who cry out "Save the restaurants!!" is a full circle.
I think externally I'm a Hollander, but internally I'm a Rozanov.
Some people watch the Mummers parade. I rewatch a show about gay hockey players on New Year's Day. Honestly, it's not too different.
A memory that lives in my head rent free is Pacey working at a restaurant thin slicing pounds and pounds of potatoes for the head chef and then the head chef throws out ALL of the potatoes and introduces Pacey to truffles. 100% would never happen in a real restaurant.
Sooooo hotttt!
I can't believe my cat Charlie is 10. Like I understand that it's 2025 but somehow it's hard to believe it's not still 2018...at least.
And the one thing that would instantly make them cooler would be if they gave away billions of dollars. Just get rid of it. Give it away. End world hunger. That or implode in a submarine.
The fascinating thing I find about billionaire culture is that they're all so...UNCOOL. Like socially, aesthetically, emotionally,etc... BUT...they all want to be perceived as heroic and COOL. And they aren't even with BILLIONS of dollars.
Trump blew Bubba and Putin has the kompromat
this is a major blow from trump
I guess we can stop saying "a penny saved is a penny earned..."
I can't tell if this is good or bad...
But really. All of this shit has gone on too long and it's time to dump it all like MySpace. This billionaire techno-dystopia is a bubble that will pop. It's not sustainable. There's hope and dread in that.
Part of me is -money isn't real, everything sucks, everything is on fire, do whatever for entertainment and joy... but also -streaming and content and consumption is all tied to and gives strength to this rising authoritarian entity which will make our collective lives harder and harder.
What do you call the feeling where you want to get rid of all social media and streaming services, just read books and watch physical media...and yet fearing that this will cause loneliness and detachment from society?
