There will be a lot of work to do in the next few months to ensure we get a policy recommendation based on international standards, but after this weekend, I am confident that midwives across Europe are aligned and ready to do the advocacy we need to get there.

I am honoured to have the generational opportunity to work on updates to the European Directive on Minimum Professional Qualifications for Midwives alongside passionate experts, who understand the importance of this moment for the profession and for Europe to lead globally on midwifery policy.

The last few weeks have been very busy, starting with a week-long planning meeting with the ICM Leadership Team, followed by meetings at European Parliament and ending with a guest talk at the European Midwives Association AGM in Latvia.
