tbh I've never once run out of ink ribbons in a resident evil game. beyond that, all the classic games (besides code veronica) are extremely short, so I wouldn't write them off!
Preciousβ¦
knew a guy who did this in college
in my defense there was at least one occasion where i saved like 3 times in a row just to clear the ribbons out of my inventory
there were some good moments!! but also so so much running down long hallways and going up and down elevators

we invented the word calculator but everyone thinks it's the "make money for me without me doing any work" machine.
me seeing one bad, counterproductive argument from ed z*tron and going on a multi-post long tirade
tbqh I'm usually afraid of making posts like my last one bc I know there's a chance that someone with zero reading comprehension skims it and labels me as an AI evangelist. I don't think "hey, you're right to oppose this technology, but you need to have better arguments" should be controversial.
I'm dragging on with this, but I guess my point is that I'm frustrated by people being willfully ignorant of these things that actually exist. There are plenty of arguments to make against many suggested use-cases for LLMs. You just need to do better than "this doesn't exist."
for ex., claude code isn't a scam or hoax or whatever. you can literally open it in the repo for whatever shitty CRUD app required human work a few years ago and have it make changes and fix bugs. that's a real thing it can do. sure, some of it is questionable quality. but it actually exists.
the discourse around this is genuinely annoying to me though because it feels like people who otherwise agree with me are insistent on the idea that these things are incapable of doing anything competently. if you blindly insist on something that isn't true, you're doing a disservice to your cause.
