He spreads hate online — and fans pay him hundreds of thousands of dollars The far-right influencer Nick Fuentes has pocketed roughly $900,000 from “fanatical” donors since the start of 2025. Some superfans see him as part of their families.

“If you can convince the lowest white man he's better than the best colored man, he won't notice you're picking his pocket. Hell, give him somebody to look down on, and he'll empty his pockets for you.”
― Lyndon B. Johnson

Literally most ambitious progressive presidential campaign most of us can remember
- student loan forgiveness
- green new deal (or big energy bill)
- healthcare expansion
- transportation infrastructure
- PRO labor policies
- massive tech and research $

The guy wanted to be thought of as FDR 2.0

So much “government is bad” talk is driven by bad faith actors playing politics or cutting rich people’s taxes. The point of angry conservative news is to keep people in that misinformation bubble so they support the racist billionaire vanity project of killing hundreds of thousands of people

Reminds me of Paul Ryan bragging about a grandma saving $3 under the Trump 1 tax cuts

All this stuff is just so deeply dark, and really just ugly window dressing on the trillions they are giving to multi-millionaires and billionaires

The most surprising thing to me about living with Waymos for a year+ has been how they actually feel safer to drive or walk around than normal drivers. I know the waymo sees me. I know it’s going to stop or yield when I have right of way. They never speed down our residential street. I’m pretty sold

So, I think the biggest thing that the DNC could do is throw a massive counter-program to Trump’s piddly little UFC fight and kid rock concert for America 250

Bring out the true American stars. Go big. Reclaim American patriotism by providing a showcase of our best. America over Trump

Exclusive | Trump Promises Mass Pardons to Staff Before Leaving Office In a recent meeting, the president said he would pardon those within 200 feet of the Oval Office, according to people familiar with the remarks.

Trump is buying loyalty by letting his cronies abuse their positions of power and enrich themselves at our expense and promising that they’ll all get off free

Absolutely agree! I think it helpfully flips the “Joe Rogan of the left” discourse to being more about candidate communication ability than Astro-turfing some new left-adjacent media star

Afterall, Rogan loved Bernie and Talarico. Unengaged voters can be motivated or persuaded by all types

So true. In this discourse, I really like @amandalitman.bsky.social’s take that the real barometer is which candidates can get on a pod with someone like Bill Simmons and be engaging. We have to stop arguing about the D-list

Trump’s push to privatize airport screening is rattling some nerves The administration is seeking to expand a program used by 20 airports, but security concerns abound.

Privatization is almost always an effort to move money from workers’ pockets to millionaire and billionaire shareholders’ pockets

US voters worried about high food prices in 2024. This admin has: 1) taxed food & fertilizer imports 2) deported farmworkers 3) canceled food/climate investments 4) started a war that spiked energy/fertilizer prices 5) increased crop-based biofuel mandates 6) released dietary guidance centering meat

They Pay $34 for Burgers. Should Their Child Care Be Free?

Tax invisibility is a scourge in our politics

> Public childcare isn't free, it's tax-funded.
> People buying $34 burgers pay taxes.
> Believe $34 burger eaters should pay more? wait until you hear about this idea "progressive taxation"

Wow, problem solved, thanks taxes! 😀

He was willing to testify against the cartel — but ICE got to him first.

Trump budget attacks renewables, boosts ‘energy dominance’ The administration's fiscal 2027 spending proposal follows up on last year's pitch to decimate funding for clean energy and "environmental justice."

Trump's budget slashes renewable energy investments. Hard to think of a dumber thing to do in the middle of massive oil prices increases spurred by an illogical and unnecessary war

China continuing to look even better positioned to dominate the future energy sector

The backstory here is that the Squamish people of what is now Vancouver were illegally dispossessed of this land a century ago. They sued, got their land back, and are using their sovereignty to ignore local zoning rules and build 6,000 new homes over the objections of nearby wealthy NIMBYs.

Using all ICE funding to build renewable energy projects under a Dem administration is going to be so awesome. Don’t even have to cut a deal to defund it. Just bleed it dry

An NBA player was quoted on a podcast as saying if your kid is good enough to be competitive then they’re too competitive to pay to play. It was a comment on the pyramid scam of youth travel leagues. Parents lit him up in the comments. I was reminded that no one likes to know they’re being scammed.

My theory has been that short term pandemic shifts - spending decreases, stimulus, and raises during recovery, suddenly had people hitting long-term income and savings goals

But then housing costs and inflation kept those raises from being durable lifestyle changes and they’ve never gotten over it
