I’ve found myself feeling a similar way lately. I think what people often forget is that there’s probably a ton of context missing from how the code was written, such as how it was discussed, the stress it could’ve been written under, etc. They wrote the code that got shipped and it works. Tis’ good

Haven’t posted a lot lately and that’s mainly because I’ve been stuck trying to figure out a Disco Elysium like dialogue system. The last plugin I haven’t worked with yet is Dialogue Manager so, wish me luck on that I guess, cuz I really don’t wanna make my own system…
WOOOOO! Had a semi-productive day! Started to experiment with animations and the new LookAtModifier in Godot. And I finally added green agility spheres. Spoiler alert: I’m kinda just trying to make a Crackdown prototype, if anyone remembers that game.

Honestly I really like the change, less to worry about in the event a file gets moved or something.
Shield overhaul inbound! They're now fully 3D, have a shield bash that replaces the kick while wielding it, and can be planted into the ground as temporary cover.
It'll be fun to see how this changes folks' survival runs!

Thank you! And yeah I was really banging my head against a wall on this one. This one really made me sit down and think about how to utilize resources as data objects.
After spending WAY too long agonizing over how I wanted to implement it. I finally was able get a solid foundation for a weapon system working. It’s just the right amount of dynamic I like!

I gotta say, I’m pretty glad to be out of tutorial hell for Godot. I’ve been a software developer for a while now but I couldn’t quite think of solutions to game mechanics like I could with websites. But now that I can… I can’t stop making new projects 🥲

While working on Risk of Rain 2 mechanics I realized I should really work on a third person controller so I spun up another project and did just that. A third person shooter was actually the first thing I ever wanted to work on. Now I can 🥹🥹 (yes this is crackdown related)

I’ve been feeling really inspired lately so I decided to hop in Godot and start remaking a Risk of Rain 2 like item system. So far, it’s dynamic enough to where all I have to do is add a 3d asset, a behavior script, and then make a resource instance (for utility items).
