The board can handle it mostly, but eventually i switched it to be powered separately through usb.

Learning to solder is fairly easy, and there's tons of tutorials online to help.
To make my pad light up I spent a few hours cutting a soldering lights and wires. Tedious, but not tough. You can do it 💪

oh no it was DOA when you got it? They should do something to help you, L-teks are not cheap 😅
