MCTS does this sometimes as well (asking operators questions and such) it’s really nice to see bus operators be apart of a transit agencies social media platforms

Southern Milwaukee county had a tornado last night, from Racine county into the Franklin area. It’s the first tornado in Milwaukee county since October 2022 and the first EF1 in the county since July of 2000!

Ugh, it really feels like last August’s flooding all over again expect it’s much worse around the east side into southern Milwaukee county. Though flooding yesterday was horrendous around northern Milwaukee. Stay safe out there!

I can’t recall a time where we’ve had such constant storms 3 days in a row especially this early in the storm season. Unfortunately flooding is occurring once again across Milwaukee. Tomorrow will be mild but unfortunately more severe storms will be possible on Friday

The area of rotation is moving in northern Milwaukee county near brown deer and other parts of the north shore. Areas around downtown will miss this but a second line of storms behind the supercell has the potential to produce embedded tornadoes so keep an eye on warnings

A supercell that produced a tornado in Sussex is moving east into Milwaukee county. Tornado warning for downtown and northern Milwaukee!

I’m stumped on this one lol, originally i was thinking the stadium freeway or near the stadium interchange but idk. After staring at google earth for a concerningly long time I’m thinking maybe I-94 maybe somewhere near 35th street (given if it’s a somewhat recent image)

Several bus routes are severely delayed around the west allis and west Milwaukee area right now, all buses are stuck at nearby train crossings. Possibly a train derailment, anybody know more?

Honestly tonight really goes to show Wisconsin is done with how republicans have been running this state, which is really great to see. Let’s all hope for a better future for Wisconsin!!!

i find it ironic how a small town bus system can provide service to nearby small towns, random subdivisions and a trailer park, while most major transit systems struggle to provide suburban service at all. I guess that’s the American way or something 😭

there also was another time when we were little where we were trying to run after a bus, and my sister was the first one to make it to the bus stop but she ended up getting on the bus somehow and left us behind (she even waved at us too while on the bus😭😭😭)

this reminds me of the time when me and my sister were little and we were getting on the bus with our parents. I guess the bus driver didn’t see her since she was the last one to get on but he shut the doors but before he could drive away I yelled “STOPPP” while nearly on the verge of tears 😭😭

MCTS used to operate the trolley buses throughout the 2000s but due to limited funding, a third party company picked up the routes and buses but still used the same MCTS stops

I’m not really a fan of the 2 slip lanes still being there but given the fact it looks like they’ll be raised crosswalks as well makes it better. At least they’ll be getting rid of the two jumbo slip lanes on the Appleton ave side of the intersection (it’ll be more safer to wait at the bus stop)

Yes that’s usually the case for most routes. But in some cases (such as bayshore town center and Mayfair mall) buses have a designated layover area with bus stands but they really aren’t big enough since they don’t fit a lot of buses. But some routes even layover in store parking lots as well

Nowadays buses layover on main roads or side streets, with some even doing turn backs on cul-de-sacs but none of these are really “official” bus loops. Though, interestingly at bayshore buses turn back at a small loop (where MCTS has even added a bus loop sign) but buses do not layover at this loop.

One part of Milwaukee transit history that is mostly forgotten are the bus loops that were scattered across the county. While only a handful of these loops existed, they were a pretty interesting part of the MCTS system (see alt for more info). The Vilet loop was the last bus loop to close (in 2021)

i enjoy the genre of images that have buses with destination signs displaying threatening auras

(the route 24 bus was stuck at a railroad crossing and the route 20 bus just has tracking issues) but the route 18 buses were actually just delayed at their layovers

I was Racine a few days ago and uh apparently they still have a single 22 year old gillig in service (#067) I’ve never seen such an old gillig before so that was interesting and I’m very surprised it’s still in service. It looked well maintained and even had a bike rack!
