Dolores Huerta is a badass still at 96. I believe her. Iโ€™m heartbroken for her and all the survivors. She was so strong she held this to protect the farm workers movement, but she shouldnโ€™t have had to. We failed her. Our systems failed one of the most remarkable leaders in our history. ๐Ÿ’”

What is one assumption you have seen a leader make that changed everything?

A World of Difference explores what is rarely talked about: what it actually takes to lead across difference globally and locally.

Hint: Surface level means a high likelihood of failure in this globally connected world.

I have watched it happen everywhere.

Post-tsunami relief in Indonesia. Boardrooms in Singapore. Fortune 100 transformation projects in Silicon Valley.

The pattern is always the same. The plan is solid. The execution is clear, and it still falls apart.

Why do experienced, intelligent leaders keep failing across cultures?

Itโ€™s not because they lack strategy, but because they designed for how they assumed people work instead of how people actually work.

That gap is the most expensive blind spot in leadership today.

CTA: โ€œBusinesses have tools that can help them manage their risks while honouring their duty to resist autocratic demands. These include standing together in solidarity, and relying on courts and other parts of society still committed to liberal democratic values to help protect their interests.โ€

As you say, โ€œThey must also weigh the long-term reputational damage their firms might incur for capitulating.โ€ I am sad to see too many thinking short term on this.

I still argue, that especially in an age of activist shareholders, whatโ€™s good for humans is good for business. Iโ€™m boycotting Target and still regularly shopping at Costco after their boards made opposite decisions on DEI.
Businesses too often become shortsighted in their decisions around profit.

โ€œEach act of capitulation is thereby another step away from a free society.โ€
I looked up your book. Thank you for your work, your research and your speaking out on this topic of utmost importance in this moment in history.

This quote was sobering, โ€œas business leaders respond to the demands of todayโ€™s autocrats. When these leaders capitulate, it further consolidates autocratic power and makes it harder for other institutions โ€” such as law firms and universities โ€” to resist.โ€

Thank you for replying with this article, which is a breath of fresh air to read this morning here in Silicon Valley where too many companies have been capitulating. Itโ€™s been refreshing to see Anthropic and LinkedIn take a stand for humanity. Unfortunately too many are capitulating.

I hope your Dad is ok. This is a scary time. Even with Maduro, cutting off the head of a hydra, just put Delcy Rodriguez in place. Over 600 political prisoners remain detained in Caracas. Not much has changed, and Trump made no plans to change. Oil was the goal, the price of ousting Maduro.

Hegseth designated the company a โ€œsupply chain riskโ€ a designation normally reserved for foreign adversaries like Chinese companies.

Then within hours, Trump launched massive airstrikes on Iran, using @claudeai any way.

So Anthropic CEO refused to let the US military use its AI for two things: mass surveillance of American citizens, and fully autonomous weapons with no human pulling the trigger.

Trump ordered all federal agencies and defense contractors to cut ties with Anthropic.

Systems change is a harder, and longer process where influence and hard decisions involves more than mere violence. I hope for peace and freedom for the Iranian people who have suffered so much.

It is being reported that Iranian Supreme Leader Khamenei has been killed. Just like the US capturing Maduro last month in Venezuela was removing the head of a hydra, it remains to be seen if this is a regime change or just giving an opportunity for another figurehead of a similar leadership style.

Yesterday, five-year-old Liam and his dad Adrian were released from Dilley detention center. I picked them up last night and escorted them back to Minnesota this morning.

Liam is now home. With his hat and his backpack.

Trump is not entitled to Venezuelan oil, regardless of how he likes to grab things that donโ€™t belong to him. Grabbing people off the streets, assaulting women and children, and now grabbing power in Venezuela. Whoโ€™s the felon?

#Venezuela

As someone who grew up in Venezuela in the 80โ€™s & 90โ€™s, and remembers when Chavez expanded the nationalization of Venezuela's oil industry, mandating majority state control (PDVSA), I want to be clear. Venezuelan oil belongs to them. It is not ours. We donโ€™t need to charge people to help them.
