I asked Labor Secretary Walker today about the $15 minimum wage bill I’m co-priming with Reps. Green and Kenyatta. $7.25 isn’t livable. Raising the wage strengthens workers, supports families, and makes Pennsylvania more competitive.
In Pennsylvania prisons, people earn about 23 cents an hour. A $5 medical co-pay is nearly a week’s wages. That means access to care can depend on whether someone has money in their account. My bill will reduce the co-pay to $1 — keeping accountability in place while removing a real barrier to care.
