And yet, if the shoe were on the other foot...
Look at this cute letter from Freud to Lou Andreas Solomé. She lived in Russia, post revolution, and was broke. In a previous letter he sent her money.
Ina Garten’s risotto recipe instructs:
“The correct heat is important in making risotto. It should be ‘lively”; too high heat and the grains don’t cook evenly, and too low heat will result in a gluey mess.”
I never thought I’d see the parallels between cooking risotto and psychotherapy….
The collaborative nature of psychotherapy should be clearly spelled out...The therapist can meet the patient halfway, but not much further.

I think secondary authors are a great stepping stone towards primary material if wanted.
It's like having a translator that then halves the cognitive load of you decide to go further.

It can often he a case of "meet the new boss, same as the old boss"
Periodically we should remind ourselves that if helpful suggestions and sympathy from people were sufficient to work out a significant emotional problem, nobody would need a therapist.

No, from me, in the sense that my own politics shouldn't ever knowingly and explicitly come into the clinical interaction for my own ends.
I think the nuance gets purposefully lost
Because *my* biases aren't biases. But everyone else's are.
I'm at a loss as to how any therapist can claim so definitively that someone does not, and indeed, *could not* have autism.
I'm not so sure i can so confidently make the latter assumption about myself let alone someone else.
From a secular standpoint I still agree with this.
Forgiveness won't, imo, have the same positive impact on the forgiver if underpinned by a coercive quality - if in that circumstance it could still be considered forgiveness at all.
And to you, Rascal. If you drink, I hope you wake up suitable hungover. If not, I hope you wake up having started the year as you mean to proceed 😇
I'm in. You bring the cigars and I'll bring the trousers braces.
Likewise. I miss your rascally musings.
It's only fitting that my first post should be a repost of a pun. Thoroughly Thorgettable.
