If you’re in the Seattle area in May..

I wish it were a little closer! Seattle is actually kinda far from me. But, nonetheless, excited it's happening!
It even has it's own control panel! And a heater! And even a button to give it the first word( I'm assuming in an argument ).
Come on. You know you want a C O N V E R T E R
The ASCII art is so charming.
It's copyrighted by bell
It was written and typeset on a computer. The snobol4 program that was used to type set this book is in the book as an exaple
Cursed book someone recommended
I am really really avoiding the urge to bid on this. I don't need another Apollo... but these never come up on ebay!
Speaking as a podcast: I may be a little hungover this morning.
Also speaking as a podcast: I think my pre-amp died overnight? That or my voice is suddenly a lot more quiet.
A blue-collar art piece of a man with a C64 tattoo lifting a set of discs like a pair of dumbbells. Artist: John Pirman.
So... You want to be a Power User? (Source.)
Oooh, that sounds right up my alley.
Out of context quote of the day:
"Do not be concerned if you emerge from the following discussion without a concrete understanding of entities"
Thank goodness I'm not on the podcast list.
@adventofcomp.bsky.social I just listened to the first episode of Adjunct of Computing, and I found it thoroughly enjoyable and interesting. It reminded me of many conversations I have had with friends and coworkers, which I guess was kind of the point. Looking forward to the next episode! 🫶
Fantastic! That's exactly what we are going for!
This is the most fun I think I've ever had on stage. Here's my INTERCAL talk from this year's @vcfsocal.bsky.social !

Google had a command line translation tool which is... I mean... It's still Google translate but it's workable
It's the power of a pile of Linux commands!
This is a picture of a Olivetti Programma 101 desktop computer/calculator. It is sitting on the floor so I could get a good profile picture.
Listening to Episode 178 "The Programma 101". www.youtube.com/watch?v=5lpc... I listen while working on #vintagecomputer restoration. This Olivetti P101 still needs work. Being both digital logic and mechanical moving parts they are tough to work on. Thnx @adventofcomp.bsky.social #retrocomputing
Big News! I'm launching an official after show! It's called Adjunct of Computing, and we are one episode in!

From what I've read it's a super personal book. I don't really see that as much in English language autobiographies.
"At certain critical moments in life or career, the craziest decision ends up being the most conservative; And perhaps more than reason, it's instinct that dictates it. This must have been our case. Having nothing left to lose often leads us to the right path."
I've been google translating passages bit by bit, and the book is fascinating and super personal. For example:
I wish there were an English edition of this book...
Had a wonderfully meandering conversation with Sean (@adventofcomp.bsky.social) on #esolangs: INTERCAL-72 (we'd published the original compiler source code last year), the blandening of mainstream langs, and touching on the book (ostensibly the subj of the podcast) www.youtube.com/watch?v=utla...
Ok. I broke out the book. I'm officially doing my yearly assembly language project
I'm a simple man. I read a paper that talks about doubly linked lists, I remember some code I write for a doubly linked list, I debug the code for doubly linked lists.... now I forget what I was doing.
