I have been editing Google Maps to make it so the trails that exist are properly shown, hopefully encouraging more people to get out on the trails once they see how connected they are.

A combination pannier backpack with reflective straps attached to an e-bike
Shoutout to Pocampo. This backpack/pannier combo has been great for work commutes!

It’s funny how the people who mockingly said “orange man bad, orange man tweets mean things” have gone kinda silent. As if that was not enough reason to dislike him; he’s just been stacking the record book with reasons to dislike him ever since.
Is it enough now or what?

Last week, the president threatened to end a civilization.
Now, he's attacking the Pope and posting an image of himself as Jesus.
Not American. Not Christian. Not presidential.
After about 4 weeks of riding my 🚲 to work nearly every day, I have noticed a significant improvement in my mental clarity and focus 🧘
I now take this route to work on the daily lol
Once people can afford and buy a house, then they get concerned with traffic and want new housing to stop being built around them.
I hadn’t thought of this before but it makes sense. Selfish boomers.
Donald Trump is a fat pathetic loser. That’s not even opinion at this point, it’s just fact.
Can you imagine if someone pitched the idea of libraries today?
Circular bike lock stations up against a fence, blocking the walking entrance into the fenced area anytime a bike uses the open spot to the left, as seen here.
Ok but what is actually going on with this bike rack setup? You can always tell when the people designing these things have never rode a bike anywhere. 🚲
Also, this route is less than 15 minutes away by bike from the new development #UtahCity, which is said to lead the way in new modern and accessible neighborhoods. If the network surrounding a place isn’t great, your pocket of well developed urbanism can only help so much.
Well, there’s about 20 feet of sidewalk before it drops stops for a bush in a ditch. But then, it continues with some wide sidewalks that are honestly quite nice, but who uses them? You can’t safely access them, so they’re not part of the connected network.
Ugh, Utah, do better.

So, I continue anyway. It’s not like there’s no space on the side; it’s just not designated as a “bike lane,” although it could easily be modified into a convenient and safe route. This lack of lane persists until there’s finally a sidewalk again…
Then, it continues for a while until a stoplight, where there’s a sign indicating that the bike lane ends abruptly. It just ends there. Imagine a car road ending while other forms of transportation can still proceed. It’s quite bizarre.
I thought I could use the left sidewalk the entire way down, but it abruptly ends in random places. When it becomes too precarious, I had to switch to the other side of the road over the median. Fortunately, there’s a directional bike lane to assist.
One of my weirdest discovery bike rides and to sum it up, it was basically just an endless series of bad infrastructure. Bike lane ends. Sidewalk ends. Gotta go into the road for 30 feet. Then the sidewalk isn’t accessible. Then there’s no bike lane. Good luck.

Seems like a good day for a ride 🚲
Just had a job interview in person. In this market, that’s hard to come by.
Bad Bunny performing in a beige suit
I don’t know what the MAGA crowd expects the reaction to be when they all turn off the Super Bowl halfway to watch Kid Rock sway his hips back and forth for 20 minutes.
Everyone sane is just gonna be watching the real show and it won’t even have an effect lol.
A streetscape in Hong Kong showing cars, buildings, and signs. Greysky 😉
Remember when you were a kid and they had all kinds of cool interactive science books? I loved those.
Does anyone make interactive science books for adults? As in, high school/college level science, but lots of unique art, activities, and projects to do? I want one.
What happens when they just kill the good guys with a gun?
Alternatively, if smaller arterial roads were fixed, maybe it would eventually catch on to the bigger streets
If every stroad in Utah named “State Street” was fixed to be pedestrian and bike friendly I think it would have a positive ripple effect throughout all of #Utah. #urbanism
Highway filled with cars
Busy urban arterial filled with cars
Bike-lanes don’t cause traffic congestion.
Car dependency, dumb land-use sprawl, too many (& bigger) cars being driven too much taking up too much space, highly subsidized driving costs, and not enough choices in how to get around, ALL cause traffic congestion.
Think about it. THAT’S common sense.
