First multicolour string print on my new @snapmaker U1 and its done a fantastic job. This is my sunburst string art printed in 3 colours. 😊 I love the mottling effect you get from certain angles.

Live in ~15!
Stoked to hear more about this 3D printing pen – it's apparently 4x faster than standard, has heatsink + stand for a full roll of filament, & is repairable 🛠️✨
Got to see it at @makerfaire.bsky.social Bay Area last year – lots of cool demos!
What features would you like in a 3DP pen?

📣 RepRapFirmware 3.6.2 is released🎉:
This is mainly a bug fix release but contains some minor feature enhancements.
Users running Duets in standalone mode can use the files at github.com/Duet3D/RepRa.... Users running in SBC mode can update using the stable feed from the package server
For one of my clay printers, moving from 24v to 36v and upgrading the control board from the Duet2 to the Duet 3, which will then connect to the RaspberryPi. Will allow more power to reach the clay pushing motor and will make it easier to connect, add features like camera, remote monitoring, etc.
I printed it and stuck self-adhesive copper tape to it. There's copper tape with conductive adhesive so you can add multiple overlapping pieces and it counts as one conductive surface. Then I used the second part of the mold to shape the copper, so that it sticks inside the recessed traces. Then I used sandpaper to file away at the raised ridges. The copper traces are now electrically independent of each other. Done! But if I want, I can remove the extra copper tape.
The companion mold at the bottom. This second 3D-printed part pushes the copper tape down into the recessed trace channels so it conforms to the shape. The two parts sandwich together with alignment spikes to keep everything registered.
screenshot of QZW Labs' raised pcb idea! here is their youtube video https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PLliKgzKKUI&t=592s
Adobe Illustrator on top (you can use any free tool that makes SVG vector files. I just own an old illustrator version. Bottom: the PCB Forge tool I made
I made a tool that turns PCB designs into 3D-printable molds. you sandwich copper tape between the parts, sand the ridges, and you have a real working PCB. no etching, no chemicals. I am losing my mind

preFlight logo. Similar to the Slic3r logo but with light blue and orange color and a rocket crossing it.
Showcase of the Athena perimeter generator compared to Arachne. The perimeters are better filled and more regular.
Table comparing Brick Layers with interlocking perimeters. The mechanism of this new slicer is based on X/Y variations and over-extrusion to compress plastic between the voids while. Brick Layers is based on Z variation. It claims 5 to 15% strength increase.
preFlight is a new open source slicer based on #PrusaSlicer but with deep rework of its internals.
- Truely 64bit
- GCode processing in memory
- Athena algo improving over Arachne
- Interlocking perimeters similar to brick layers
- Deeper #RRF integration

This dogs string art has been on my wish list for a long time and I'm so glad to have finished it. 😊
The frame prints separately so it can be printed in a single colour (Blue) or with a single colour swap (Black).

Does it have to stand for anything? Is it not perfect as it is?
Beginning the Voron 2, serial 0 build that was donated by RCF to the Sanjay Mortimer Foundation and will be raffled off at SMRRF. Starting in about 1 hour!

Not long until the Lunar New Year festivities begin. 2026 is The Year of the Horse and this year I thought I'd combine a quilling style with my signature strings.
The design prints without supports and can be printed on a single colour printer.😊

If you’re a 3D printing designer you should be upset about this. Companies can slip through a bogus design patent on your model and block you from distributing or monetizing it. This would take away one of the only options for fighting that that’s even remotely affordable
SOS!! Share far and wide! The US Patent Office is working to make bad patents untouchable and that’s a problem for open source hardware! Read through EFF statement and get your comments in ASAP to help prevent this www.eff.org/deeplinks/20...

A refill spool of rPETG in the center of a white page with colour changing in the violet range. On top the title a title in black "Recyceltes PETG"
A close up of a refill rPETG spool on white background. We can see the color changing from brown to black to violet.
A text in German with four spools in the background. Deepl translates the text in English as follows: "For a long time now, the waste that inevitably arises during film production has been a thorn in our side. We have now succeeded in recycling this waste and using it to produce filament that is of the same quality as our other filaments."
A text in German with a column of rPETG spools in the background. Deepl translates the text in English as follows: "We design the production of rPETG in such a way that, instead of a uniform "colour paste", unique colour changes are created. We are starting with spools and refills in PETG (1.75 mm). The colours vary and are selected at random for shipping."
DasFilament announced a recycled PETG filament made from waste of Film production. This rPETG has the same properties of their standard PETG and is specifically designed to have unique colour changes. Available in spools and refill.
