I do occasionally, but today was like...I will regret the Tuesday night drink. Cookies instead.

I have had to affirmatively decide NOT to drink on Tuesday. Like just now. Because old.

I play Overwatch, and I'm a Moira main. Maria has a little art tag, a "spray", that is a circular purple mandala with an eight pointed star in the middle. It looks like a butthole. I spray it before every game and spam the emotes "this area needs attention" "going in" and "this is to my liking"

Yeah so like... Do it. Just fucking go and do it. Humiliate the poor bastard. I know it's beneath you but you gotta take one for the team.

A flatscreen display on a "smart" water fountain, demanding to be reconnected to the internet.

A flatscreen display on a "smart" water fountain, demanding to be reconnected to the internet.

In 1999, I was playing a decker in Shadowrun, and tried to distract a guard by hacking a water fountain to overflow, and my GM said "why would a water fountain be on the network? That's fucking stupid. No you can't try."

Well it's 2026 and I just want you to know, Phil, that I FUCKING CALLED IT!

Near me we had China Dynasty, then China Nasty, then China Sty, which is unfortunate because the food is pretty good.

I've worked in immigration for almost 20 years and I can tell you that Catholic Charities is one of the most reliable networks out there. This is like cancelling a contract for clean water.

Hegseth Borrows Violent Prayer from ‘Pulp Fiction’ to Bless Iran War at April Pentagon Worship Service For the second month in a row, Pete Hegseth, who likes to call himself “secretary of war,” read a violent prayer — that echoes a scene in the Quentin Tarantino film Pulp Fiction — during a worship ser...

what’s funny about this is that tarantino wrote this “ezekiel 25:17“ for the film. it isn‘t actually in the bible. publicwitness.wordandway.org/p/hegseth-bo...

Update: sat in the chair for 20 minutes. Pharmacist hung out in the medical exam room with her college age son, just chatting. When she got out, chatted with a friend (clearly a regular customer) for 5 more minutes. When I finally got to talk to her it took 3 seconds to straighten things out.

My kid's prescription has been hanging at the pharmacy for 2 weeks. Today they told me they are "still working on it." His meds run out tomorrow. When I pushed back I was required to sit in the chair. I feel like it's the principal's office.

Anybody who fell in the Kpop Demon Hunters soup this past year should really listen to Audrey Nuna's solo stuff.

I grew up not far from Steubenville, Ohio, which had the highest teen pregnancy rate in the country in the late 1990's. My girlfriend at the time refused to go there because she was afraid there was something in the water. There was: Christianity and poor education.

It would be easy for the story to be a cartoon of fascist violence and gaslighting but Newman avoids that by keeping us grounded directly in Julia's cognitive dissonance. It has echoes of Prophet Song and In the Mood for Love. Great read.

It has a lot of expected twists and such, but Newman pushes you through the narrative in a way that makes every insight and revelation important, heavy, and often intense.

Cover of Julia by Sandra Newman. The title 'Julia - A Retelling of George Orwell's 1984' is in a red banner superimposed over '1984' in a black frame on an off white background.

Finished 'Julia' by @sannewman.bsky.social on the train back from NYC. It's a telling of 1984 from the perspective of the eponymous Julia, a young member of The Party who gets swept into plots and shit goes terribly for everyone.

I used to speedwalk up it for exercise. Would measure in the number of steps, not time. The faster you go, more steps. Very Alice in Wonderland.

Kudos to the author for not making it weird also? I mean, it's so easy to create bad looks. Glad this all worked out. Nice dudes* are cool.
