Is anything more cringe than when two narcissists publicly air their divorce. 🍿

Agreeing to post to the same hashtag or feed also doesn’t work, because those feeds are public and oftentimes anyone can join.

If feeds could be set to invite-only and private, they miiiight have the potential to provide an alternative space for fb groups to meet

It’s also horrible to attempt to move a fb group to a group chat instead, with topics all over the place and blowing up peoples’ phones.

I can’t count the number of times I’ve watched a fb group attempt to move off Facebook only to fail because the communication style is too different. Discord does groups but prioritizes video chat, for instance, whereas fb prioritizes text threads and photos

Tiktok, Twitter, and Instagram alternatives are great, but the biggest thing Meta users need a non-Meta alternative for is private Facebook Groups. @bsky.app

Our neighborhood groups and social groups where we can have collaborative non-public discussions make it hard to leave the platform entirely

Every few years, we sign up for yet another platform just to keep in touch with our friends. Private platforms have locked users in for too long, causing a lack of innovation & competition in social media.

Bluesky aims to fundamentally change this.

I would love to move past all the tyranny into the post traumatic growth stage now, please. 🙏

Like why be a famous actor and only do boring shit when you could play a reanimated corpse one minute and Weird Al the next?

Daniel Radcliffe is one of my favorite actors but it’s less about his child acting in Harry Potter and more his Steve Buscemi-like willingness to take on increasingly unhinged roles.

True, sometimes a book doesn’t start irritating me until 3/4 of the way through and then it’s like well, we’ve come this far…

I am coming around to being ok with book abandonment.

There’s definitely a strange sort of self satisfaction that comes from confirming you were right 😂

I’m a bit of a completionist, but with the sheer amount of good books out there, I’m coming around to this way of thinking

If you’re not vibing with a book, do you abandon it, or keep reading to the bitter end just in case it suddenly gets good?

Did you see the header photo on my bluesky profile? Similar feels lately

When I was a child, my late January birthday parties were routinely snowed out.

This year I’m outside in the 50° sunshine soaking up vitamin D and watering saplings so they survive the insane drought we are having. The sunshine feels incredible, but the ground is dust and I am unsettled.

Social media is a whole lot of broadcasting thoughts that would be off putting if you individually texted them to someone.

And then “liking” thoughts you’d be weirded out if anyone walked up to you and uttered.

Listen, humanity. Your corporate smiles are not reaching your eyes. Some of you I think are actual robots. Others are inexplicably grainy/blurry/badly cropped like you took your photo with the world’s earliest model of digital camera.

Aldi eliminated dei from its website

Meijer changed language including dei on its website to eliminate the word diversity and it now says “inclusion and belonging.” So it’s kind of a halfway effort? Like getting at the gist of what inclusivity means while avoiding all previous language and associations.

Or more accurately if a book is so awful that it’s hateful or unreadable I’m probably catching wind of that and not reading it in the first place 😂 so haven’t felt the need to rate anything 2 or 1 yet

1 year ago 1 0 1 0

5 = Loved it! This book will resonate with me for a long time.
4 = good, I liked it. I have a few critiques (writing style, grammar errors, plot inconsistencies, boring bits).
3 = didn’t love it. Poorly written, uninteresting, wrong or dangerous
2+1 =I don’t do this to authors.
