I noticed that owl box ๐
Good memories, it's nice to remember them. Especially on a working day when birds are not the target ๐๐
I've some good memories of Middleton Lakes.
Saw my 1st Wryneck there & my 1st Pallid Harrier. I was on the plateau above Middleton when my lifer Melodious Warbler in Worcs came on the alerts.
I've even been via public transport before.
But yep, living & learning. When I'm that tired, stay home ๐
Some are just not interested, hey? We've seen cats that have just chilled under the hedge & left the birds alone. Some of the current ones seem hellbent on catching birds, tho. One narrowly missed a Robin.
I saw a horrendous clip of a cat plucking a swift out of the air ๐ณ
I have yes. LSW was the main target, but I was intrigued by the Merganser.
I had my own debacle for some similar reasons. I was drained after a long, complex day in Norfolk/Suffolk border on Friday. So, low on sleep, high on caffeine, I headed out on Saturday. Failed, went back on Sunday, success ๐
Some moggies are cool ๐ I was watching 2 Song Thrushes by the River Ouse the other day. I think they had a nest in the dense hedgerow behind me. A narrow boat cat just sat by not fussed. Rare, I guess.
3 cats in my small garden this evening. I plan on buying a super soaker ๐ซ
Lovely ๐คฉ
Mine, too. I had to cup my ears when listening, as I do when I'm out birding ๐ I've not got enough hands these days ๐
Can't wait to hear & see that song happening this year ๐
Is that a distant Tawny I hear in the background?
That is so tiny! Crikey ๐ณ
Oh gosh! So sorry it was hard to locate the site and the bird ๐ณ
Hope you're feeling somewhat better now ๐
Warning: dry humour alert ๐
We're told that we all want to be accepted. If the Alvecote Hooded Merganser does one sharpish, she may have a slim chance ๐
At Middleton: LS Wood. Garden Warbler, 1st song of the year stops me in my tracks & with a bit of patience I saw him.
Fab to bump into my mate @ochrurosbirder.bsky.social

Thanks Kay ๐ It was lovely to see you too. #LowCarbon catastrophes today ๐
That Garden Warbler was gorgeous. Nice to finally hear booming Bittern for the first time this year, too ๐
Good penalty !! ๐
Stranded itself? Tried to die? These are strange & curious ways of framing things.
Loved her ๐ฅน๐ฅบ
Stick em up punk, it's a sun lovin Peregrine
And a historical event in the case of the Titanic.
I've still never seen the blockbuster version. However, the film A Night To Remember had a big impact on me as a kid
I thought I'd been cancelled ๐
How did they analyse the brains of birds?
I had to uninstall & reinstall. It seemed to do the trick ๐
Right over my head, that one ๐
Hey? ๐ค
What a day! Weeting for Stone Curlew gave me impetus to take my scope for fixing at Downham Market. Lots of other birds too incl Wheatear.
An hour to waste during my third Ely station visit. So I went for a walk: โ๏ธ Marsh Harrier, Sprawk & a pair of Song Thrush.
11 miles walked

We always used to hire bikes when we holidayed there with the kids. It was lush ๐
Maybe if I lived somewhere other than Notts. I'm holidaying in the Netherlands next month. Maybe there ๐ค I have enjoyed cycling there. I do love the feeling ๐
