WTF Apple standby on my iPhone has started showing ads for apps (that hide the clock entirely, defeating the only purpose for the feature)
I know I plugged this when it was Nebula exclusive, but here I am plugging it again now it is open to the masses. It’s a good video. I may not be British, but with how much my country likes to import Britain’s bigotry, most of the points apply here in a general sense if not the specific.
Unflattering selfie of red faced, ugly, middle-aged, white, homo with a beginner’s Santa beard.
Random selfie to prove that I am probably alive at time of posting.
I know it's a silly jokey joke, but people REALLY need to stop anthropomorphizing their boyfriends. "My boyfriend told me" your boyfriend didn't "tell" you anything. "My boyfriend thinks..." your boyfriend can't actually think or feel; just output a convincing simulation of it based on probability 🙄

We're all allies as long as the disabilities are cute and comfy.
It seems the BBC wanted a spectacle.
They could have cut every slur. That would have preserved Davidson's dignity and kept people safe from hearing a deeply triggering word.
The BBC made a choice not to do so.
Suggesting that your comfort is more important that disabled people's inclusion in society is not okay.
The amount of people casually suggesting the segregation of everyone who makes, or might make, them uncomfortable....
This whole BAFTA mess is making me realise how many people don't continue to consider the disabled to be actually human once we become inconvenient or uncomfortable.
Even some internet personalities I quite liked have said some thoughtlessly dehumanising things in response.
He was in character at the time, obviously, but how much that was character who can know.
"Laws are a threat made by the dominant socioeconomic ethnic group in a given nation. It’s just the promise of violence that’s enacted, and the police are basically an occupying army, you know what I mean?
You kids wanna make some bacon?"

Luxon saying about his 'move them on' policy for unhoused NZers that the important thing is that cruise boat tourists don't see the reality of AKL is, I mean, fkn wow.
The focus is pretty British, but some of it applies more globally and is worth noting. Especially as New Zealand tends to import bigotry.
Voyager 1 is currently more than 24 billion kilometres from Earth and getting 17km farther every second and hilariously it is not as out of touch with New Zealand as our Prime Minister
I have the sterling silver from the first series, in case I need to fight werewolves... using tiny dice...
This is why I am poor
At the same time the Epstein Files are reinforcing how protected sexual abusers really are, Neil Gaiman is using the nightmarish sexual violence allegations against him to market his next book. His DARVO defense is the first selling point. Rape culture is everywhere and unavoidable.
I did read the substack post before I posted above.
Identifying as a leftist feminist journalist doesn’t magically turn the acknowledgment that the accusers were three dimensional people into evidence that they weren’t victims of crime.
Ugggh, Neil Gaiman returns to the internet to promote a conspiracy theorist as a journalist because they are supporting his innocence.
Classy.
Took me a couple of episodes to get into it, but I rather like Wonder Man
How is it that the Heated Rivalry fandom is making Twitter more homophobic?
The way people (particularly straight women) are talking about François Arnaud is horrific....
Joyous Yuletide to all
The Mighty Nein season finale was pretty satisfying. Good show, people should go watch it if they haven't yet.
Read the first couple of books in preparation and then watched the episodes of ‘Heated Rivalry’ that came out last night.
Somehow you can really feel the women objectifying male homosexuality edge to the ‘male gaze’ in it.
It’s a bit weird.
So, Pokémon Legends Z-A actively encourages players to catch the extra large versions of the pokémon, but then uses a battle mechanic where size decreases efficiency as larger pokémon get snagged on environmental objects far more often, blocking their attacks (and sometimes trapping them entirely).
