Scientists have discovered hedgehogs may be communicating at frequencies up to 85 kHz.
Set an AudioMoth to a sample rate of 192 kHz or higher and you can try listening in!

The left image shows an Open Acoustic Devices team member testing the first version of AudioMoth 1.0.0 with Lora radio integration in a Belize tropical forest. The AudioMoth is housed in an early prototype enclosure consisting of layers of clear acrylic laser cut sheets. Initial findings in 2018 indicated a wireless range of less than 50 metres. The right image depicts the same team member testing the integration of satellite communication on AudioMoth Dev for real-time alerts and status updates on a remote location on the Isle of Wight, UK. The AudioMoth Dev is housed inside an AudioMoth Dev Case with an AudioMoth external microphone installed on the bottom left of the case with deac-cat windshield.
#AudioMoth early ambitions of remote low-cost alerts has come closer to reality within a NatGeo funded project led by @jlahoz.bsky.social, integrating low-cost @arribada-i.bsky.social SMD Modules and Kinéis nanosatellites for real-time alerts from any location. #Tech4Wildlife @wildlabs.bsky.social

I (Peter) have been a big fan of @bennjordan.bsky.social's work for ages, so it was great getting such praise for AudioMoth in his latest video.
A fascinating dive into bird vocalisation with some great advice for taking your first steps into listening to the birds around you.

AudioMoth's humble beginnings involved a search for the New Forest Cicada. Great news to see the story coming full circle and the species returning to the UK.

This is a spectrogram of a selection of Nightjar calls taken with my Audiomoth and processed in Audacity, from the other night at Hamsterley Forest. It includes the 'churring, wing clapping and froggy croak calls. . @openacousticdevices.info #NEbirding
We had a fantastic day in the Canadian sunshine yesterday deploying @openacousticdevices.info HydroMoths in Lac Hertel, Quebec.
There’s still a lot to learn about diel & seasonal trends in freshwater soundscapes… watch this space!
Today we're attending Biodiversa+ in Barcelona! Come by and say hi if you're attending.
Screenshot of the AudioMoth GPS Sync App.
If you use the AudioMoth GPS Sync firmware, there is a new firmware version and app out which better supports long recordings. Synchronised output files that were previously limited by the 4.3GB WAV file length limit will split into multiple files. www.openacousticdevices.info/gps-sync
GroupGets.com/hat 👈 The @openacousticdevices.info AudioMoth GPS Hat adds GPS time-sync to AudioMoth 1.1/1.2 via GPIO pads. Enables precise timestamps, delayed start, and optional microsecond sync with GPS Sync firmware.
AudioMoth Dev Case allows you to deploy an AudioMoth Dev with three D-cell batteries, a massive amount of capacity!
Want to protect a device throughout a long-term deployment, or with a GPS/external microphone? The Dev Case is available now at @groupgets.bsky.social

GroupGets.com/micromoth ⬅️ @openacousticdevices.info MicroMoth is the world’s smallest full-spectrum acoustic dev board. Just 4grams, it records 8k–384kHz audio to microSD and runs AudioMoth firmware. Big performance, tiny size.
OK this is a real game changer thanks to @openacousticdevices.info and their play.openacousticdevices.info

@stevechinnery.bsky.social you might want to check this software out
Yes, you can slow these down to audible frequencies and make a video of the resulting sounds.
It's not the best quality as I recorded it from your video, but it's not bad. You can downsample, play back faster or slower than real-time, and apply filters.
Nice. Try out AudioMoth Play for making videos and spectrographs from AudioMoth recordings - play.openacousticdevices.info
To protect them from curious elephants, we repurposed camera trap cages for our #AudioMoth Dev field trials as part of the @wildlabs.bsky.social Awards 2024. #bioacoustics
Using AudioMoths from @openacousticdevices.info we recorded vineyard soundscapes and then characterised them using acoustic indices
We showed that vineyards with higher bird species richness 🐦 had more diverse and louder soundscapes 🎶
