Is by any random chance anyone I know in Friedrichshafen for the European drum show? I have no idea why it’s in this pretty but tiny town 😂😂

Busy few days! And a belated happy 50th birthday to #Apple I wrote a little piece about some of their lesser known legacies for @IEEESpectrum@flipboard.com based on a conversation with John buck and his “inventing the future” book.

First App Store submission in a decade. First review rejection in a decade. I’m in the game!
Grammarly annoyed a bunch of people with new features this week. Seems like a good time to share this. Might be time for an update to see if alternatives have improved.
Ps. Vale desktop is in testing and is getting closer to a private beta ;)

For anyone who uses the Vale language linter and #Obsidian I have rewritten the Vale plugin. The Obsidian community is overwhelmed reviewing new plugin submissions, so in the meantime you can install with the infamous BRAT plugin. Enjoy and log any issues in the repo!

Hello Melbourne! 👋 I am here until February 6th and up for nerding, gaming, music, coworking, and other antics.
I released this before the holidays and then totally forgot to promote it, but on my last podcast of 2025 I had John Buck talking about his book covering Apple's historic Advanced Technology Group.

I am extremely late to getting around to this, but are any of my Melbourne contacts driving to and from Everything Open in 2026?
My Wife is running a charity auction to raise money for a psychiatric hospital in Odessa. If you feel like adding yourself as an item, let me know. Equally, if you want to bid on any items, also appreciated (one of them is me running a D&D session), at the very least, promo is appreciated!
What says "Festive" more than a post-post-apocalyptic novel about former enemies moving forward together, falling in love, and "more"?
So an eBook version of my debut novel, "The Dead Among Us", released about a year ago, is free all month on Smashwords. 🥳🧟💌

I just heard of the passing of Tom Stoppard. Not only a great playwright, but some of the transformative experiences for my performance experience. Performed in some amateur versions of his plays in late teens and that gave me the confidence on stage I now have.
The latest #techlounge podcast is an interview with Jonas van den Bogaard where we discuss the use of open source in the energy sector and The @linuxfoundation.org Energy community.

Agentic browsers… Are they the future of using the web, or a gimmick?
There's another contender to consider, and this time it's Opera's Neon.
What does it add to the landscape, and how did I find using it? Well, you'll have to watch!

We have a great RSVP amount so far, but another quick reminder, we have a #Supabase meetup here in Berlin next week featuring our self-hosting lead speaking and others! And me serving you pizza :)

Gah, sorry, cross platform confusion! Will fix later!

About a month ago, I was back in Wonderful Lviv and Ukraine for #itArena and focused on engineers working in defence tech for @spectrum.ieee.org
I spoke to engineers who switched careers to work on technology their country urgently needs.

Fully remote, great company, open source at heart, and you get to work with me! (Yay?)
One of my favourite features in #macos is focus modes, but they don't go far enough, so I wrote a little something on how to combine them with the @raycast.com focus feature to get a configurable, full-featured setup for focus.
