I don’t know how we promote this message more, but it seems lost on so many men.

It is always wild to me when people say something about their *parent* working with computers. My parents never used anything more advanced than a calculator with a paper tape.

TIL “The Sequences”.

Definitely. I just wish the will to sexual conquest weren’t a thing at all. It has always seemed so odd to me. That is likely a me problem.

Makes me angry every time I’m reminded.

The drugs and alcohol certainly lower inhibitions, but I strongly believe that the core problem is the belief of many men that sex is an act of conquest. (Will need to review AC Season 1.)

I assumed I was the oldest (laudatory) person on here. I’m not quite old enough to remember watching the first moon landing, but I do remember later missions.

Doubting and distrusting people (including myself) has gotten me a long way.

They're flying halfway around the world to have a meeting in separate rooms? Return to office ass policy

I guess I shouldn’t be, but I continue to be surprised by how coding agents will replicate the laziness of the median programmer. In particular, even when they admit they should be using a parser, they will still fall back on regexes.

It’s honestly not as hard as it might seem because it does in fact turn out that women are also people.

I have been hit with this and a David Bowie reminder today. I don’t like it.

I think this is right, and also I don’t know why people aren’t naturally more open minded regarding gender. I have much stronger opinions about other people’s technology preferences than their gender expression.

I feel like I’m so standard issue myself that I much prefer interacting with people further outside the distribution. It is just more interesting. I don’t know how everyone doesn’t feel that way.

EFF is Leaving X After almost twenty years on the platform, EFF is logging off of X. This isn’t a decision we made lightly, but it might be overdue.

The 28th Virginia battle flag is a Confederate battle flag that belonged to the 28th Virginia Infantry Regiment. Captured by the 1st Minnesota Infantry Regiment at the Battle of Gettysburg, the flag was brought to Minnesota and exhibited at the state's capitol for several years before passing into the permanent collection of the Minnesota Historical Society after 1896 where it has remained since.

Happy Confederate Surrender Day from Minnesota where we still have your goddamn flag and we’re not giving it up.

The biggest form of political correctness in America is that basically every single conservative commentator is a gutter bigot and it's just universally understood that it's beyond the pale to ever acknowledge that.

I would read a content analysis of the way the Times. WAPO, CNN, Jake Tapper etc... covered Biden leaving Afghanistan compared to this absolute debacle of the War on Iran by Trump.

You know how Rome had republican institutions but in times of crisis they'd appoint a dictator with absolute power? What if we did that but we appointed our worst guy in a time of relative peace and prosperity? Now I know what you're thinking: why would we do that? Well it's to mix things up

Literally for God’s sake, Reverend, delete this post.

I hate having to do the "look, they're normal just like us" post, but sometimes you have to do that when American propaganda tries to convince everyone Iranians are "animals".

In all seriousness, one thing that might be worth doing today:

Tell your Reps and Senators to call Adm. Richard Correll, the Commander of U.S. Strategic Command, which controls the nation's nukes, and remind him of *his* unique responsibility to refuse an illegal order.
