Sunday Potager (Food Garden) Ramblings #80 Well, hi there. Happy Sunday, eh? We finally, finally, finally have nice weather here on the prairies, so it is going to be a busy week ahead.... and hey, what is it with windows? They get sooo dirty and seem to need a good wash every month! Therefore, washing windows is on my today agenda as our temps are going to be in the high teens.

This week's ramblings have garden diys, what to grow in dry shade, making gardening fun again... inspirational gardening tips, how-to's, and great recipes, as always. Check out the wild mushroom pizza recipe. Happy Sunday reading.

April In The Potting Shed Well, by golly. It sure has been difficult to get excited about gardening lately, as the weather has been all over the place here on the prairies. From cold and snowy to double digit highs. I like those sunny, plus degree days just fine ; ) I did not post last weekend, on the Easter long weekend, as there really has been little that we can do in the garden.

Things are looking up! Check out the what to do now, ideas for forcing rhubarb, spring pots...

Early April In The Potting Shed Not too much to add this week as the weather just refuses to get spring like. It is so very hard to get into spring mode when it is cold and/or snowy. Sigh. Though, I looked back on last year's temps and they were similar at the end of March. The first week of April was fantastic, so that is promising!

What to do in your garden or potting shed this week.

What you can direct sow right into the cold, snowy soil.

And hey... I saw a bunch of robins yesterday! Spring really is coming... though it does not feel like it here yet ; )

Sunday Potager Ramblings #77 This week is all about spring and Easter... what are you all doing for Easter next weekend? I hope you spend it with family and friends. Although Easter is my second favourite holiday (after Thanksgiving), I am doing nothing this year. Have told the family that I am out, not participating... but I am kind of sad about it. Turns out that hubby is not at home for Easter this year so I decided to start on a new anti-inflammatory diet while he is away.

This week's Ramblings are all about spring in the yard and garden, plus loads of Easter crafts and recipes. Easy, fast, and inexpensive crafts that you still have loads of time to make. Happy Easter, friends! Tanja

Sunday Potager Ramblings #75 (spring gardening, tomatoes, pretty gardens) Happy Sunday! We made it through that week with the wintery weather and spring is literally on the way! Only 5 more days till spring and the weather is going to be wonderful. It was so dry last fall! We had rain for most of the summer and then none for weeks and weeks afterwards! I can hardly wait to see the crocus and other pathway bulbs that hubby planted for me last year (I supervised with my brand new hips ; ) and the perennial pink primulas I have growing in the back corner.

Spring is just 5 days away and I am already dreaming about my primulas!

This week's Sunday Ramblings has pretty gardens, how to grow great tomatoes by doing as little as possible! (super good information), and great spring recipes... always lots of fun reads on Sundays.

Vegetables I Am Growing In My 2026 Garden (with seed sources) I was asked to post my crops for this summer, plus where I get the seeds from. Here is everything thus far. There are still a couple of things I am looking for, but they are not a necessity, just a want. These are the varieties that you will find at the workshops, too. I also give the number of days to go from planting to maturity. Hope you find this helpful : )

How To Grow Calendula (aka Pot Marigolds) I love nothing more that adding flowers to my yard and potager. Perennial flowers have their moments, but annual flowers (the kind you plant each year) are my real favourites. Calendula will bloom from early spring through till frost, well into November. In mild winter zones, I have seen it blooming in pots when I was on my way to a Christmas party!

How to grow calendula, a great pollinator magnet for your veggie patch.

Sunday Ramblings #67 (Still Organizing & Changes Afoot) So, here we are, almost 3 weeks into the new year. How are you making out? I am two weeks into the Metabolism Recode, an elimination diet that helps get rid of bloating, weight gain, fatigue, helps decrease allergies and arthritis pain.
