How popular are Wobbegongs?

1 year ago 0 0 0 0

I've been insisting to people that the 'blobfish' is unfairly maligned since I first heard the famous photo isn't what they actually looked like, but I'd never seen one in its natural depth or known its real name till now! Thank you!!

No, Kerosene did NOT save the Sperm Whale How we carried on exploiting sperm whales long after the conventional wisdom said we'd stopped. Forgotten Material #1

If you're interested in energy/climate you've probably heard the nugget that "kerosene/crude oil helped save the whales", by reducing demand for whale oil in lanterns.
I've even trotted it out myselfπŸ€¦β€β™‚οΈ
But it turns out it's NOT true.
Here's what actually happened edconway.substack.com/p/no-kerosen...

President Jimmy Carter's greeting to the cosmos, launched in 1977, is still heading boldly into interstellar space aboard NASA's Voyager spacecraft, humanity's first emissary to the stars.

They also turned into 'proto-Klingons' and a ship became an old Klingon barge so I'm guessing they were just regressing to a different evolution from a universe in a different timeframe

Amazing! Lots to add to my reading list!

This is the right way to be. I could not get into Discovery or Strange New Worlds, but the way their fans love those shows makes me so glad they've been around for them to enjoy. I'm also a Lower Decks die hard so I appreciate your approval even if it's not your thing πŸ˜‚

You could always use your influence to plaster the walls with website links to charities and mirrors so they have to take a good hard look at themselves?

Love it!

Would love to design one where the main drive bit is a Cookie Cutter Shark so it looks like it's latched onto the PC πŸ˜„

Behavioral and neurophysiological evidence suggests affective pain experience in octopus Biological Sciences; Ethology; Neuroscience

The above study on the existence of Nociceptors in Shore Crabs show that they may biologically have the capacity to feel pain as Zimmerman defines, but previous studies on octopi also show that some invertebrates may have the capacity to emotionally experience pain too

I often see it said "animals don't have the same capacity for emotion, so they don't really 𝘧𝘦𝘦𝘭 pain"

Firstly, potentially not true

Second, even if many don't have the same experience of pain we do, emotion isn't relevant to defining pain in animals

"Hey have you read [book]?"

(You've listened to the audiobook)

Option A: Yes it's good!

Option B: No I haven't read it but I've listened to the audiobook

I'm not pedantic enough to mind if you go with option A is what I was saying here, right before I said they are still two different things

Id say if youve listened to an audiobook, saying "Ive read that book" isnt too much of a stretch, but to me the experiences of reading or listening to a book are different

One isnt more significant or useful than the other. I enjoy both, sometimes simultaneously, but for different reasons

If every piece of art was judged by how necessary it is, or whether it warrented the time or money the creatives put in, we wouldn't have art

As long as you and everone else involved in your projects put a little bit of yourselves into them, they are worth it for the expression they capture

I love these!! Such a lovely art style to all of them!

(The way you drew Data reminds me of The Secret Show cartoon art style so its catering to multiple niches for me, love it!!)
