But we are a 10 min walk to Ngarrang (Lake King) with a variety of shorebirds and a few hundred metres from some low farm/wetland types incl Ibis and Cattle Egrets (which fascinate me).

I think ours will be back, and the Willy. The Wrens are now regular (Fairy and Scrub). The Crimsons, Rainbows, Little and Red Wattlebirds, FigBirds. Bronzewings and Maggies are constant. Butcherbirds, Bowerbirds and Kookas are regular then a few are seasonal- Koel, Grey CuckooShrike, etc

I took my final DiDi ride on my way to Shanghai Pudong airport, chatting to the driver about EVs using the translation app.
Then caught the Maglev train at 300km/h.

I've lived in Qld & Vic rusted ABC until recently and never heard of him (nor other connections to him some woman chastised me about).
It seemed weird to give that many column inches with so many conflicting priorities. Not that he should be ignored but leading EVERY bulletin seemed OTT.

I've looked up RAI and also the iodines you need to avoid (as well as contact for a few days).

I won't tell you about the F Wrens until you are much better!
We have a Kooka that appears to have moved in and a couple of F Blackbirds causing havoc!

Our Maggie pair are stressed by the next mob.

On Lugol's Iodine (bottle on script, drinkable at home).
It worked very well during peri-menopause. I'd go again if she hadn't retired. Polish woman, qualified in both in UK - fabulous combination of quals.
Anyway. I hope the health path is smoother than the Mtn Bike tracks!

Thanks Mate. I am ok. Just waded through all the toughest anniversaries - they all hit within a 6 day period. I am out the other side, not quite reliable, but getting there.
What effects do you expect from the radioactive i. I think thryoxine is pretty well tolerated?

I wandered around Washington DC, relishing a glorious golden autumn just before the 2024 re-relection of Trump. Watching the huge preparations for the 250th along the Mall’s institutions filled me with dread. This was published on the day of the election. theaimn.com/washington-t...

Australia’s submarine agency is committing record funding to external firms for management and support services while maintaining a “secretive” stance on internal assessments of its own workplace culture.

While AUKUS was framed as a means to establish sovereign industrial capability, an analysis of procurement contracts showed the agency has relied on a small group of private providers.

Wtf???

So, no money for NDIS but all the money for AUKUS - and they're outsourcing $$$ to external private firms?!

NDIS a victim of familiar scare tactics – while untouchables roll on We rarely speak about how the NDIS became a catch-all because we don’t have enough social services and supports to help people who need it.

Listening to the gas executives yesterday while also listening to the health minister explain why we just can't afford to give support to people who need it, was just one of those WTF are we doing moments. (Plus an overheard convo that stuck in my mind) www.thenewdaily.com.au/life/health/...

Does Australia's culture of remembrance need updating? - ABC listen As ANZAC Day approaches, the esteemed Australian military historian Peter Stanley asks whether Australia's remembrance of war reflects the complexion of our modern society.  In Stanley's view, we need...

I found David Marr’s conversation with historian Peter Stanley about how remembrance has changed in Australia overtime. From mourning by those who had lost loved ones in war, to some sort of weird patriotic celebration with a National War Memorial funded in part by arms companies.

Sydney business body calls for complete overhaul of homelessness response after ‘disturbingly lonely and tragic death’ Bikram Lama’s body lay undiscovered for up to a week in one of city’s busiest parks, prompting business lobby to call for greater welfare monitoring

A total societal attitude shift towards the homeless might help as well.

Somehow I missed these couple of posts about your health. I am so sorry. I had to go backwards after I saw your ride post yesterday to pick up on what had happened. I'd missed the P-Falcon posts as well.
I hope everything is settling and your health is doing what you hope for.

We are being harassed by Peregrine Falcons - every day we get 8 to 10 of the flying predator warnings being shared by ALL the birds. Our pool deck is covered in blood and pigeon feathers every day - Yesterday we think it got one of our magpies as there was a huge whoosh by the kitchen window.
