So far I surprised so many people with my skills and my answer is 99% of the time "did you not learn that at school as well???"

Tbf in exchange I struggled a bit with math in higher education but I know all the symbols on an oven knob.

Random thought but it's crazy how you don't learn any life skills in school in Germany unless you are in the "lowest type" of education.

Hauptschule taught me how to cook, sew, work with a CNC program and woodwork. We also had a class just focusing on learning to read working contracts.
