You got this!
That halftime show is what people mean when they say "joy is an act of resistance."
Whilst I’m in my photos of the National Museum in Copenhagen, you’d better have this 360 of the Gundestrup Cauldron. Found in 1891 in a Jutland peat bog, there are more questions hanging over this silver Iron Age vessel than answers…only its shocking beauty is uncontested.

The cover of a new hardback short story edition. Rich red background, darker at top and bottom, brighter in the middle. A gold outline of a sparrow-ish bird flies upwards at center left, with wings spread, trailing abstract gold curlicues from its tail feathers. Block letters at top read: Madeline MiIler Author of the #1 New York Times Bestseller The Song of Achilles. Block letters at bottom read Mestra, A Short Story.
My new short story, MESTRA, comes out as a standalone this September! I rediscovered this myth from Ovid while working on my Persephone novel, and it absolutely electrified me. In case you want to pre-order, thank you from the bottom of this author's heart, links are here! linktr.ee/madeline.mil...
What happened to those people who were dressing up as bread eating orcs & hanging out at The Drunken Goat tavern or whatever??? I want that energy in 2026, not whatever the fuck this is.
Tending to houseplants & huffing dried flowers have kept me from withering this January.
****bougie -Silly autocorrect
Next time anyone asks what my style is, I’m answering with “boogie folk horror”
“Then I asked some women students in a quickie poetry seminar I was giving, ‘Why do women feel threatened by men?’ ‘They're afraid of being killed,’ they said.”
-Margaret Atwood
“‘Why do men feel threatened by women?’ I asked a male friend of mine. — ‘They are afraid women will laugh at them,’ he said. ‘Undercut their world view.’”
Women undercut men’s worldview. That’s the threat.
It says a lot about the last words of Renee Good and it says a lot about why a man might feel threatened.
I understand why the Margaret Atwood quote is being paraphrased, but the full quote is worth a read.
It comes from a 1982 piece on writing the male character.
It’s not just about differences in fear and it’s definitely not about silly little women who might naively annoy unstable men.
Listen, I’m not saying I have my pitchfork out… but it’s ready, just in case I need it upon seeing the trailer.
Bomb cyclone, snow squall… can’t wait for whatever is next!
Used Christmas Trees floating in a lake to improve fish habitat. Source: Kentucky Fish and Wildlife
Why are these fir trees floating in a lake? These are Christmas trees pursuing their second career creating fish habitat. Fish and wildlife managers are improving fish management using trees. This is a great use of our trees after their retirement. Read about it at Our Trees, ourtrees.substack.com

Tin of salve on a bed of spell pamphlets and dried herbs
I am absolutely not sorry for this product post because I am over the moon with the nine plants spell salve from @eldersisters.bsky.social , HYLDYR & J.S. Hopkins, and Open Sea Design. 🌱😭

Maybe this is why the Yule cat is sometimes pegged as the pet of Grýla.

Thank you for the tip! -Trying my best to make space for non-hellscape things without being totally uninformed… It’s a difficult balance.
I’ve unfollowed a lot of people over the last month.
I don’t disagree with them and it’s not personal. It’s just that constantly seeing commentary on the American political hellscape is a bit overwhelming for me.
