The poem “A Grammar of Loneliness” by Dr. Taylor Byas in paperback, annotated all over enthusiastically in pen. One of the annotations say “Can I just…highlight this whole poem.” Another annotation is a heart. Another is all caps “OMG BARS BARS BARS.” There are many underlined lines and brackets and notes. At the top is a heart drawing and multiple stars. (Apologies, I can’t just paste the poem’s text here in its original intended format).

“There is a moment when my aloneness / is flayed down to something animal, the bullish man in my mind for years. My / body still capable of rising to a cold wind or a warm hand. I’m sorry, / where are my / manners?”
