IMO the two biggest dangers of AI are that it affirms everything you think and that it destroys your critical thinking.

And each reinforces the other. The more you lean on it for your thinking, the more it reinforces it. And the more it reinforces it, the more you rely on it.

Very bad.

To the people leaving MAGA who want to be treated with kindness and grace:
I appreciate that you've put down the gas can and matches. I do.
But my house is still on fire. People I love are still being burned.
Pick up a fire extinguisher and help us put out the fire. After the ashes have cooled, the burns have been tended, and the structures rebuilt... THEN we can maybe talk about grace.
Don't you dare ask for anything while the fire you set is still blazing.

I thought Jan 6 would be the end of Trump.

That his shame would do what laws and courage should’ve done.

Trumpism didn’t fade, it consolidated.

I should’ve fought harder then.

I fight harder now.

Scandals fade.

Movements have to be confronted and outlasted. 👇

I'm one of those trans women. I worked ground ops for Artemis I.

I am torn between celebrating the success of my friends and peers and grieving how my dream of working for NASA was shattered by hateful assholes in Tallahassee

I missed this from @phineas.bsky.social when it originally came out but it sure feels relevant at the moment.

Also, you can buy this as a print from the artist here:

I don't know how to explain to the people who pop up when creatives complain about "AI" to say there are legit uses for it just how much they sound like someone saying "Well actually fire is used to make bread" when people are talking about an organized arson ring burning down their fucking houses

"...the worst of the worst..."

And because Republicans can't resist bashing themselves in the nuts with irony bars, he did this WHILE TRAVELING TO OTHER PEOPLE'S COUNTRIES, thus committing the crimes he's supposed to be stopping people like himself from committing in ours.

My kid (21) and her friends *hate* AI. It’s not just because of the ethical and environmental concerns. They find it deeply cringe.

To all of these men in particular who cannot understand why sexual assault that occurred decades ago still matters.

I was sexually assaulted twenty six years ago.

I am closer to fifty than forty.

I still will not get on elevator with men if I am by myself.

That's why it matters.

The fish rots from the head, as they say.

The US has consolidated nearly absolute power into a deeply unwell senile bigot criminal. He has no capacity for complex thought or strategy. Just smash and grab. He is surrounded by toadies and sycophants.

That doesn't work all that well, geopolitically.

This is the part we've been warning about for years: Trump will start World War 3 to keep the Epstein files hidden.

i've decided not to listen to the audio of a teacher reporting a kindergartender because frankly I don't want to become the person that that event would turn me into. but one thing I hope we are collectively coming to grips with is what it meant that we have lived among such people this whole time

In the concentration camp universe, this is what's known as a filtration camp. A government preemptively takes a whole class of people to interrogate and detain extrajudicially in order to inflict duress on them while arbitrarily assessing their (supposed) culpability.

ICE is still here in Minnesota.

The only difference in the “drawdown” I am seeing is a shift from the Bovino actions that were done for confrontation and conflict for the cameras to more snatch and grabs that are no less awful, if more dispersed.

Until they are all home.

Until we are all safe.

It's like the fashy "good times/weak men" bullshit except very real:
Tiny coffins produce vaccine uptake
Vaccine uptake produces immune kids
Population immunity creates vaccine skeptics
Vaccine skeptics make dead kids.

federal taxes you pay this year will go towards this. they won't go towards programs or services that help people, they killed those. they won't go to science, they ended science. they will fund this. you'll be paying for this.

Live updates: White House blames 'staffer' for racist Obamas post shared by Trump Trump administration live updates: New Jersey's special House primary too close to call

Haven't seen this angle mentioned, but it's an extraordinary national security risk to have an anonymous "staffer" impersonating the president of the United States, posting racist memes, from his personal accounts, at 10 PM.

Every instance of "AI democratizes the arts, you're classist and ableist and a gatekeeper for trying to stop it" is a slap in the face to the literally centuries of poor, disabled people making art on the margins and a crass lie in service of a machine that strips down and regurgitates dreams

The year in TV (2025) 2025 felt like a particularly good year for television. I sit down every Tuesday and Saturday with my wife to watch whatever our chosen show at the moment is (we’ll have a “Tuesday show” and a “Saturday show”—Saturday usually allows us to get two or three episodes in, while Tuesday is better for shows we want to digest a little more slowly) and there were definitely parts of the year where we were spoilt for choice.

The year in books (2025) Last year I read 33 books (including a few graphic novels and short stories). Given it wasn’t too many years back that I was struggling to get myself back into a healthy reading habit I’m pretty happy with that statistic. While 2024 was the year that I plunged into folk horror, last year seemed to be the year that I discovered an appetite for autobiographies with three such books ending up among my favourite reads of the year.

As writer, I would love to not have to keep using the "Everything GOP smacks of rape culture/domestic violence" metaphor, vary it up a bit, but they just keep going to the same well! It is what it is.
