For sure... and I think that's the rub with Dundon. He's not actually wealthy enough for this. He couldn't even fully fund the purchase of the team - he still owes 20% of the sales price.
It's like he bought a racecar, but can't afford the gas. Not a well thought out plan.
At the time of the sale, Cuban cited the financial pressure of funding an NBA contender as his primary motivation for the transaction. He said it had been too much of a financial burden for a "middle-class billionaire" like himself.
Mark Cuban sold his stake in the Mavericks primarily because running an NBA franchise well was too expensive. Instead of being shamelessly cheap or exploitative, he got out of the game altogether.
This is not good.
Deconstructing infrastructure built to protect people erodes public trust in the City of Portland and its willingness and ability to center the lives of human beings over the dents and scrapes of cars. This is a step backwards and runs counter to the City's Vision Zero goals.
When X was my primary news source there were all kinds of crises all the time. Every time I opened the app I learned about a new crisis.

The safety record of two stair buildings speaks for itself. We don't have egress-related deaths in new construction. We created these regulations that basically eliminated the thing we wanted to eliminate.
I can't see a *good* argument for taking something that works and making it more restrictive.
But when you realize those “birds” are actually highly sophisticated government drones, it becomes clear that each “death” costs the government millions in damaged tech and sunk R&D costs. Suddenly the requirements begin to make sense.
