Living in the shed for winter months until the threat has passed is tedious, but they manage ok!

They are easy! I used to poo pick each morning when egg collecting so the coop stayed clean. Apart from letting them out/locking them in at night, that’s it for day-to-day. I wouldn’t bother with pretty breeds - ISA browns are the friendliest & prolific layers. Only time it’s tricky is avian flu -
