oh yeah I mean like. I think people like fanart at the end of the day and genuinely people gravitate towards it. I like fanart too!! But you do need to be aware of the legal greyspace that you exist in. You're not entitled to make money off someone else's IP!!

This is just me remembering an artist making a big post about getting sued by nintendo and how they were really upset about it but like..... sorry? You knew the risks!!! They are always there!!!!!!!

My hot take is that if you get a cease and desist or any form of legal letter for selling fanart, you knew the risks and you can't ask for pity points. I mean. I'd still feel bad for em but it's like. Well. The risks were there I'm afraid.

"Make originals! Make books! Make prints!" scream the fandom tired masses as they never take out their wallet to put their money where their mouth is.

Don't curse people for doing what can make them money because by gods it is hard to sell originals.

Artist alley merch debate is back on twitter and I think a lot of US based artists and fans don't realise their assumptions are rooted in racism and targeting the wrong people.

Buy what you want but don't demonise people for creating
