When Clark was asked Thursday if he planned to allow the current budget bill to have public hearings — after it had been sitting for two weeks at the committee stage with no movement — he was cagey.

"I've made no decisions," he said, a couple of hours before tabling his 1,238-word motion.

The motion also seeks to schedule one day each of public hearings on a bill that overhauls school board governance and another that prevents municipalities from requiring that developments follow certain environmentally friendly standards.

Combined with Conservative MPPs giving themselves months and months off, more and more the Ontario Legislative Assembly just seems to be a rubber stamp for Doug Ford cosplaying as a legitimate legislature.

Jesse Brown Insists He’s Done Nothing Wrong Banned from Reddit and accused of phishing critics, Canadaland’s founder is leading a chaotic 'investigation' into an army of sockpuppet accounts

What an weird mess. I am looking forward to listening to whatever Canadaland ends up posting about Brown's adventure's on Reddit, but I've decided to spend my local journalism money elsewhere.

Oh man the last few episodes are incredible! I mean the whole show is, but the penultimate one is something else. It’s unreal that show is Star Wars.

The funniest thing about the Claude Code leak (www.ccleaks.com) is that they are trying to get stuff taken down via copyright claims. I wonder how they square that circle internally.

I don’t think the Ontario voter gives a shit. Nor do any of the water carriers on the driver entitlement file in our feckless establishment: from the Board of Trade to the pandering former Liberal leader whose runs Vaughan now. This is all on them. It’s what they want. Honest Ontario.

No one likes C3PO more than R2D2. But for some reason big tech is obsessed with C3PO-style computers that speak and act like humans you can love (and make love to) – instead of R2D2-style charming machines that beep, bloop and are joyfully and obviously machines.

Ontario to seize ownership of Toronto Island Airport lands and declare it is a special economic zone Premier Doug Ford says the provincial government will be seizing ownership of city-owned lands at Toronto’s Billy Bishop Airport and declaring it a special economic zone, invoking new powers that will...

Invoking Bill 5 to designate the island airport a "special economic zone" isn't just overreach on municipal authority.

It also allows the Ford government to circumvent all responsibility for harms caused to the land, water, wildlife, and human health around the airport — including future lawsuits.

“I am political,” Ms. Rachel told me of her new effort to free kids from ICE detention.

“It’s political to believe that children are worthy of love … and that our care shouldn’t stop at what we look like, our family, at our religion, at a border. Mr. Rogers was very political.”

Not keeping up with inflation as the population ages is a quieter way to cut healthcare. These are passive cuts to healthcare, more invisible than Harris and Eves' closing of thousands of hospital beds. Good on the OHA, the ONA, and unions for trying to help the public understand.

Canada Is A Nation Of Cheapskates What does the prime minister's decrepit residence have to do with national decline? More than you think.

Canada is a nation of cheapskates. If we can't even up the head of government up in an adequate residence, do we really think we can take on the massive and growing challenges we face?

see?
here's the thing. A lot of people are like, the earth is fucked, it's beyond salvation, it's hit the tipping point, but time and time again we see that if we just fucking fixed the problem, it rebounds so incredibly fast. Imagine what could be done if people actually cared

No paywall on this important article, which identifies three reasons for the decline in GO’s locomotives and rail cars.

– COVID service suspensions, where maintenance was reduced on stored trains

– longer periods between regular maintenance

– The botched 2024 DB service contact
