Another question I came here with was: how effective are the whistles and honking? Does it stop abductions? And the answer is, surprisingly to my cynical self, yes, and often. I have talked to so many people who have successfully interrupted kidnappings.

I've since googled and dog hackles are along their spine even to their tail so I feel less like my brain's fill-in-the-blank machine is irreperably broken, but I'm humbled nonetheless ππ
-> the word haunch exists and starts with ha
-> the word ankle ends in -kle
-> I had been imagining hackles as something above the ankle, maybe related to dogs' back legs??? (no hackles there either)
-> this has been in my brain for at least two decades unexamined
Today I was complimenting Pepper's hackle feathers when I realized a cascade of things:
- hackle feathers are on the neck so hackle must relate to necks
-> I have used the phrase "hackles raised" for a long time
-> I did not think hackle meant neck
-> there was a vague sense it was low on the leg
So exciting!! Seeing you dedicate yourself to writing again after your low period makes me kind of emo but in a good way ;-; LOVE YOU!!
was called a hag for turning my laptop around and telling @ashlukens.bsky.social "this is you". the truth is often scary & upsetting but I persist in being an absolute beacon of it, you're welcome friends & family!!
My friend @esselle.bsky.social made a book trailer for #DeadMansBlood π³ She was a creative co-conspirator for this toxic little book and a perfect cheerleader.
Dead Man's Blood is an adult horror romance; it's spicy, it's angry, and it's really gay.
What song do you think this 2002 J-Drama about a poor family who owns a ramen shop used for its ending theme?
Make a guess, then click play. You'll be wrong.
Wow. it must feel terrible when someone takes something you made and uses it without permission or payment
I would still happily listen to the what is insurance lecture fyi
It is still your time to shine!! Every day is a good day to wrangle a group of feral raccoons with book babies, right? Right??
Overcoming creative blocks isnβt always about "just pushing through" β or discipline, or desire, or inspiration, or sheer will β itβs about being kind to yourself, acknowledging your underlying fears, developing supportive habits, shifting your mindset, and being patient with the process.

This is why questions like 'are you a plotter or a pantser' make zero sense to me. I'm a person who does whatever seems appropriate in order to create half of a first draft, and then actually gets down to the hard work. Possibly I'm a trash compactor.
How does it feel to have the coolest novel in content AND design??? This is so good π I can't wait for people to meet your characters and concepts πππ
Where is "Tuesday again? no problem" dog when we need him most
I wrote a blog post!
Where Do You Stop? A musing on HEAs and the difference between series and standalone novels.
Thanks to @azteclady.bsky.social for the idea!
I realise this is a good & nice accessibility feature but it feels like a callout
"Do you want to turn on sticky keys?" No I want to be the kind of person who starts their next sentence with certainty but for the time being I seem to be the kind who hits shift then goes "no not quite..." five times in a row
itβs STILL wet???
