renewables cover most of Germany's power demand
I have been told so many times on this here internet that Germany is suffering because it invested in renewables.
The fossil fuel fan Boyz and girlz love this argument.
Looks horrible having such low prices.
The batteries will follow quickly. They are money makers.

🌬️ V severni polovici Slovenije piha močan severni veter.
🌬️ Ponekod pod Karavankami in v Posočju sunki vetra precej presegajo 100 km/h.
🌬️ Predvidoma se bo veter proti jutru še nekoliko okrepil.

NEW: UK's "AR7" renewable auction was the biggest ever – more than 50% larger than 2024's record
AR7 = enough electricity to offset 3/4 of UK LNG imports
Labour's AR6+AR7, combined, contracted more GW than all other rounds put together

To naj bo vodilo.

Najmanj vodnati sta bili povirji Soče in Save.

Excellent article. Did you perform a comparable analysis for the EU or for individual member states?

“Staggering” Water Loss Driven by Groundwater Mining Poses Global Threat
A new study finds that freshwater resources are rapidly disappearing, creating arid “mega” regions and causing sea levels to rise.
This is a pretty alarming new study out today (doi.org/10.1126/scia... - read the abstract) and here are some great visuals and highlights from it by @propublica.org: www.propublica.org/article/wate...
"Since 2002, 75% of the population lives in 101 countries that have been losing freshwater water"

This is not the actual cover of Nature, just shown here for illustrative purposes. We did submit this figure for consideration for their cover. Print run in two weeks, we'll know by then if it gets used.
Out today in Nature, our paper on the drivers of the record 2023 summer heating of the North Atlantic. Temperatures warmed to record levels in just a few months. The impacts on climate & ecosystems were severe. A thread on how this work came about and what we found.👇👇🧵 www.nature.com/articles/s41...

Could this be the biggest climate story of the year?
For the first time on record, China's emissions are falling due to clean energy growth, not slow power demand
