i expected it to do sorta alright considering it had like seven years to build a dedicated fanbase, but i'm seeing waves of people go in like "haha funny horse girl" and walk out like they just saw Across the Spider-Verse for the first time in 2023

looking at the article itself it seems the whole "dead end" thing is entirely based on the modern bullet hell basically alienating beginners due to the sheer difficulty, which... kind of makes sense?
