Thanks Samson, got your comment on Mastodon but could not reply there. Anyway, I agree with your point, but it is frustrating and contradictory to read the many papers with positive results and the lack of longterm benefit. It does not align and patient deserve better!

Thanks for comment! To which I reply from my Bksy account, the bridge to the brighter Mastodon side does not work đŻ.
Great video! Will bring that back to the #nicuverse

Great news, congrats Mark!
Join many other neonatal professionals and take a short quiz on a cyanotic infant!
And a small hint for full points, if we ask you if you have a CO-oximeter at your unit, just say yes đ. Sorry for that..

And I miss some basics⊠for example, an adjusted OR needs to be seen with the crude OR (IMHO), and I cannot clearly see what the regression model included. And whereâs the DAG?!
I am sceptic đ€, âmore research neededâ!
I just read quickly but think this would be a great paper for dissection in a clinical epi workshop! I am not too convinced about the approach, and just wonder how various biases are handled. Q to be looked into also in the Nordic registers?!
The WHO PROPS trial FTW!
14k preterm or SGA infants (<2.5kg?) to be randomised to probiotics or placebo, to estimate mortality, morbidity, and growth in the first six months of life in South Asia and Sub-Saharan Africa.

Japanese study of 22-25 wk #preemies
Remarkable survival rates at discharge were 83%, 86%, 93%, and 93% at 22, 23, 24, and 25 weeks. The overall percentage of normal DQ was 26/47 (55%)
Outcomes were different on gases in the 1st 0-6 hours

Do you have advice on good (more factual than opionated) summaries about the #letby case?
I started a discussion in the 99nicu forums and would be great with some more background reading

âAs we have foreseenâ :)
Can you check the link and share it again? Or share the PMID?
Final call for the International Survey on Probiotics use in Preterm Infants! It is still open for responders (we want to reach the goal of 200 responders).
Please consider!

Understand, my refl was that SHOs had a rough life (many more hours than in Sweden!)
On topic - Rebekka Karijord made this record after their stay in our NICU, I keep coming back to this LP (and on Spotify)

#NICU poetry!
NICU poems?! Is this book still around, e-version maybe? Would be great to read, the NICU has poetic narratives IMHO. Was thinking before there should be a book like Nerudas â20 poems of love and one fearful songâ (free translation!)
BTW was an elective student at the JRH NICU 91 :)
In this cohort study, PISCOPO et al. analyze data from the the Australian and New Zealand Neonatal Network (ANZNN) to investigate the relationship between birth weight and IVH in very preterm neonates @atulmalhotra.bsky.social

Interesting to see how the Letby case will evolve. One of the neonatology experts assessing the causes of deaths is my former mentor Prof Norman, and another involved person is Prof Lee, both known as sound and well-regarded #NeoEBM profiles.

Interesting paper about European iron supplementation and Epo use in preterm infants, all use iron supplements but big variations in Epo use.
I don't anyone in Sweden uses Epo as standard of care (as suggested by the paper).

Morn!
Hi there! Bluesky is still in an early phase but letâs hope for a proper alternative to NeoTwitter.
We in the @99nicu team opened a Mastodon server AKA nicuverse.org , so far it is also a bit dead :) Mostly the Incubator, Prof K Barrington and myself there :)
Hi Mariana! but I still feel a bit confused here, in the NeoSky list, there are still cats and all kinds of non-NICU stuff. I vote try to build a #nicuverse on the @99nicu Mastodon server
:)
Just realised, Bluesky does not support hashtagsâŠ
#NICU friends here - how about gathering our community around the tag #NeoSky ?
Of course #NeoEBM and related tags like #foamneo should also work well
