If they made TNG now, the first season would just be "Encounter At Farpoint" stretched out to 6 episodes, Q would be in every episode, they wouldn't even get on the Enterprise until episode 4, episode 5 would be a flashback episode showing everyone's backstory, and yes, it would be cancelled.
