cooking a lil n64-style demo scene 🌼

Right! That makes sense.

I'm not too knowledgeable about the specifics of the photos, just mainly someone who has been entranced by the stream of beautiful photos on the news and social media. I just wish we spent way more of our resources exploring space instead of being horrible to each other!

I wish humanity would do more of this and no war, no conquest, no nukes.

As an Australian who used to live in Montreal, this simultaneously pleases and displeases me. 🐨

Spinning around: Please don't! - siliceum Embark on a journey about why you should sometimes trust your OS more than yourself.

Ever wrote spin-locks or had to debug them?
I have, and I got tired of seeing (and writing) crappy ones, so I did a real investigation this time.

Spoiler: trust your OS.

stop using AI to do your research. it hallucinates too often. if you want an answer to something, post something arrogant on the appropriate subreddit. something like: "this item performs 10% better than everything else. only idiots deny this." this will bait nerds into doing your research for you.

I made this as a visual aid for what it's like to develop games:

Just maintaining and adding new rendering features to the Frostbite engine! Nothing that flashy. :)

But things are going good! Been enjoying living in Sweden and going on cool European adventures ^_^

I don't use GameMaker anymore but if I did I'd be celebrating my 20th anniversary around now!

... now I feel old. πŸ˜‚

One of my favourite things of living in Sweden is just going to some fresh snow and walking on it and feeling and hearing that cruuuunch crunch crunch crunch crunch. Perfection! πŸ‡ΈπŸ‡ͺ

i think that people who use headphones in public places like trains are selfish. keeping all your cool music and podcasts to yourself is genuinely sociopathic and deranged behavior. play it on your phone's speaker and let everyone enjoy it, or don't play it at all

Dang, I wish I could pull off combos like that! Maybe I'd still be playing Silksong instead of putting it off!

Already finished the first one? What did you think of it? :D

technology that makes people more productive is inherently used to perpetuate capitalism, that’s why I make videogames, technology that makes people less productive

And with alt-text for posterity: the Gamedev Discourse Calendar (I forget the author’s name alas), ft The Cliffski Bit That Did Not Make It Onto The Tote Bag Version

I think there's a powerup/inventory item somewhere that gets rid of the knockback! That helps a lot.

Glad you're enjoying it though! Keen to try Nine Sols once I'm done raging at Silksong. :)

Today I noticed the Apple Music version of a bunch of Radiohead albums has much better dynamic range than my lossless CD tracks! Nice to see!

This has to be the nerdiest photo I've ever taken.

there's two types of photography perverts: the type who wants swirly bokeh and soft portraits and buys a Leica lens for the price of a new luxury sedan, and the type who wants swirly bokeh and soft portraits who buys a lens from the Soviet Union called Glory To The Industrial Worker 57 for $40

This used to grind my gears so much! God forbid car drivers have to share space with anyone.
