I'll be tabling at Arts & Drafts Holiday Market at Chapel + Main brewpub in Dover on Dec 7! I'll be bringing my most recent illustration prints, plus custom printed shirts for kids and adults. And totes! It's looking to be a fun market / hangout hybrid 😎

Manifesto “I turn toward the experience of being a living thing. I turn toward myself. I try as best I can not to turn away.” We all create our own rules in art, dictated by our needs and desires…

Recently made fresh edits to my creative manifesto, which I'm hoping to do maybe twice a year. It's satisfying to have a document like this to return to once in a while.

It's a good practice to state what we believe from time to time.

Monochrome Heights is now available for PC! Anyone who likes tricky platformers should take a look

Besides the cover art & logo, I made the in-game character portraits (over 100!) and concept art for some of the cutscene backgrounds. What a joy to see it all as a part of the final product

I did not expect silksong to go all zero mission for a bit but well here we are

So exciting to see my cover art and especially the concept art I made now fully realized for in-game cutscene backgrounds. The game is looking *nice* 😎

Update: got it on mobile! In dark mode I couldn't see the required checkbox acknowledging the item is a preorder, lol

Are there some tech issues with the website? Or maybe it's me? I'm currently on mobile and can't get to checkout. Can't even add to my cart on desktop. Using Firefox in both instances, hmm...

I went back to this image from 5+ years ago (!!) for some light touch-up. A fun little illustration. I like its youthful imperfect vibes. When are you ready for adventure? The moment you set out, of course!

Finally giving bsky lists a try. Great so far, wish I had thought of it sooner!

Here's the development material for the concept / vibes series. I'm happy with how the final pieces came out, but I still like these sketches, too!

Ah, fantastic! I'm glad it had a positive impact. And good luck with your own, if you decide to go for it!

Thanks so much! It's great to see work I did years ago resonating even now. I guess it just goes to show how timeless Watterson's and Smith's work is

The final piece in my concept / vibes vignette series!

This one was the toughest. I started with the crystalline gash idea but struggled to pin down a composition. I like the cross-section approach here. It offers a unique perspective and differentiates the image from the others in the series.

My maybe-favorite entry from the concept / vibes series?

Sometimes you begin an image without fully knowing how you’ll resolve it. The tree with sunlight breaking through the canopy was one of those. With some experimenting I settled on something I liked.

Photo of the deli ticket

Photo of the deli ticket

Overall the in-store experience was so much better than the dumpster fire of online preorders the night before.

I'm relieved it worked out and that I had the flexibility to try for Plan B the next day. Phew! 😌

About 5 minutes before the store opened, we lined up according to our numbers.

The last ticket / system was accounted for about 2 min before opening

At one point we joked about how it was like at a deli. And then someone remembered there was a grocery store at the other end of the strip mall…

…5 minutes later, we had a length of actual deli tickets to use. It was great, it all worked so smoothly

I preordered via in-store GameStop, of all places. Waited outside the store for a couple of hours with a chill group.

We didn't even need a line. Instead we had a number system based on order of arrival. As long as you stayed within the (vast) parking lot, you kept your number

It took some doing, but I am now officially locked and loaded for Switch 2: The Sequel™ 😎

This is the first piece in the series where I got a little more curious about ways to explore the vignette format. The negative space helps form the path into the world of the illustration.
